Default would this work?

ok i've noticed that alota katz in arizona runs vafc, 440s, with a fmu. running pig rich but making decent numbers. im running vafc, 440s no fmu. i set my setting to the recommend -35 hi & lo nar and -35 lo -39 - 34 hi wide. my car really doesn't like those setting and shows no signs of detnation. my timing is 1 degree retard. fpr at 55 or so wot.

i have a 3bar map because i wanna boost 12-15lbs. would a boosted program like uberdata or something work as a baseline and fine tuned with a vafc? just something hella driveable for the time being until febuary.

thanks

Just a thought what is need ed with a stand alone? Laptop?

If so what program would the laptop have to have? I have a old one that I would never use for anything but this so I thought I'd ask because I need info on management also.

It depends on which one you go with, and wether you will be doing the tuning yourself or having a shop do it for you. Some systems require a custom wiring harness and some are "plug n play" but all of them will need to be tuned. If your going to do the tuning yourself you'll need a laptop, if not then don't worry about it.

As far as not having the right equipment to use Uberdata you probably have most of what you need already, the Uberdata program (download from the uberdata site above for free), some simple supplies to chip your ECU (do a search for Keebler65 he has an excellent writeup on chipping), and a ROM burner http://www.moates.net

Also, if your planning on doing your own tuning, you'll need a wideband O2.

Ok so if I get uberdata then I can tune myself from programs on uberdata? I have a laptop but it's a older one, what kind of memory and computer options on the laptop are required? Do you think it is a pretty easy process to do for the do-it-yourself types if all the info on how to tune is available? Sorry just a few ?'s I'm curious about. Noone around here has any stand-alone so I'll be the first. I'm interested but I just thought it had to be taken to the shop to get tuned. I'll check out the info you have for me thanks
