Whch block will take more boost? B20 vs. b18
Hey guys I heard that the B20 block is tronger than the B18 and it is a good idea to duna B17 crank? How much boost do you guys think the stock internals will handle? What about with aftermarket pistons and rods? Thanks

You're way off. The B18 is much stronger than the B20. A B20 is just an 84mm bore B18, so the B20 has thinner cylinder walls thus making a B18 stronger.

I think you need to do some searching, this has been discussed a million times. It's not about boost.

no it wouldn't.................
no matter what people tell you, a b20 is NOT just a 84mm ls. the b20 sleeves are actually all 1 piece. there is no gap between each cylinder like there is on the ls.

cylinder walls are as think as a LS.. i measured them on my b20.. its the style of the cylder walls on how they are made is the problem

so your saying that its the style of sleeve and not the thickness? i just built a b20b as a replacement for my junk engine and i compared the thickness of the sleeves and they were the same thickness. wouldn't the b20 sleeve be stronger not have the alum. as a filler between the sleeves? Steel is stronger that alum. yes/no? I don't mean to jack anyone thread, but i used a ge block graud and rebuilt the engine with stock pistons with a gsr head. i'm thinking that should be good for 7-8 psi of boost as long as there is not detenation. has anyone seen where the sleeves actually crack (top, middle, etc..) and is it due to clyinder pressure or detenation that causes them to crack.
