Default resleeved b20 vs resleeved b18

Hello guys! I read some topics here concerning b20 ab b18 resleeved blocks and I still got one question. As far as I understood stock b20 block is much weaker than stock b18 block. The sleeves to be exact. So my question is does the resleeving solve the problem or not? I mean is the resleeved b20 block able to handle more than 12 psi boost and more than 300 hp? Is the extra .2 displacement really worth it?

Thanks a lot

Ask whomever sleeves your block on how much PSI the sleeves can handle. Most all handle 3X your asking amount..

You can look up sleeves on here and find a Great deal of info...

And the LS block has the same crank and rods like the CRV, one difference i know is that B20 is a 84mm stock cylinder and B18 is a 81mm stock cylinder.

Yes, resleeving solves the problem. Sleeved b20=sleeved b18 more or less depending on the bore size. They would both be equally as durable. If you only want to make a little over 300 whp, then get a b18, slap a blockguard and good internals in it and it will run forever with a good tune.

You are doing an ls/vtec motor right?

stock sleeves will be good enough for what youre wanting. i hit 400whp on stock internal b18c1 gsr block. just buy a b18a/b block and throw a vtec head on it and boost it. stock internals with a good tune will last you a long time at 300whp.

another thing you should look at as far as the cranks go with the B20 vs the B18B is that the LS crank wieghs about 10lbs lighter than the B20 crank... the stock bore is the other thing like stated earlier... but since you are only shooting for 12psi and 300 whp you would be fine running the stock bore B18 with a good tune and internals would put you over 300 with no problems

alright, let me explain the situation. right now i'have got a ek civic with a gsr swap. A year ago when I swapped the engine I planned to leave it n/a and tune an n/a engine. But right now I'm thinking to building a turbo engine out of it. I also bought a built gsr hear which I planned to use to the purposes of building n/a engine. So right now I'm thinking on wether I should by a b20 block and put the gsr head on it and build gsr turbo or I shouls take the complete engine I have right now and start building a turbo engine out of it. I'm now that exeperienced in turbo engines that's why I'll probably buy some turbo kit - right now I'm looking at Full-Race ProAm Stage 3 kit. So I just wanted to know if the b20 sleeved block can handle the amount of power this turbo kit can provide - as far as I understand this is lot more than 620 hp at more than 12 psi of boost. I just want some info to make my choice. Thanks.

the nice thing about getting the b20 block sleeved is that you dont have to pay to overbore and hone it to 84mm like the ls

your best bet since you already have the GSR block is to get a LS crank and dont worry about buying another block and what not. you will make more power with the GSR block with the LS cank than you will with a B20 Vtec.... plus you dont have to worry about the extra stuff you will need for the Vtec conversion. all though its not alot, it can be a pain in the a$$ with all the small things

Even 84mm blocks come in at a bit under 84mm so your engine builder can hone to the appropriate bore size for the pistons. It really doesn't matter what you're getting, you still need to have it honed, but you can order sleeves in just about any bore size, it all costs the same.

can you tell me what's the difference between GSR and LS crank? never dealt with it.

guys I just want to know which of these (b18 and b20) sleeved blocks can handle more power?

The LS crank has a slightly longer stroke then the GSR crank (89mm LS vs 87.smm GSR). The slightly longer crank gives the LS slightly more displacement.

You say you have a GSR swap now right? why not just resleeve with a bore size of 83 or 84mm and get an LS crank? that should give you close to 2.0L I did the math for this a few days ago and I think the displacement on an 84mm B18C with LS crank came out to 1974cc's or close to that. I'm going with a sleeved B18C1 with 83mm bore and LS crank and this will give me 1925cc's.

If you sleeve a b18a/b or a b20, you will have blocks that are identically as strong. With a bore size of 84mm or less, 35lbs of boost is no problem to any sleeved block.

what exactly you don't like im what i'm saying?
the only mistake I made was saying that full-race proam stage 3 gives more than 620 hp - the full-race website says it gives up to 620 hp. my mistake.

All sleeved b-series blocks (b18 or b20) start out as 81mm and if you want a 2.0l you will have to bore it out. It also costs more money to sleeve the b20 because of the weird sleeve design.

No it's not. I can find you a few threads on here where Golden Eagle and Exospeed both say it costs a little more to sleeve a B20 block. I don't have time to search for the threads right now, but I will look for them later. So unless they have changed the prices recently, which I doubt they have, it does cost a little more.
