Default whats a good efficiency range???

ok i was doin some calculations and whatnot and i came up with this question- whats a good efficeincy for a turbo to run at? i was specifically lookin at t3 50 trim maps for use on my d16z6, and at like 7 psi(which is about what i wanna start at) it would be at around 70% efficient. is this too low??? turbo newb here just tryin to gain some general knowledge about this...

Well, 70% at what RPM? Your never going to be in the turbo's full eff. range for too long. It's not a good way to plot on a map. You have to see how the entire operating range of the engine fits the map. You are only pointing out one point on the map. I know from experience that the 50 trim t3 is a good turbo on a D series, though. You want a .48AR hotside, and you'll love it. That's about as big as you'd want to go, actually.

Good luck.

d16 go t3 60 or super 60 , I have had so much great success with the 60 trim and the power is strong, I just plain love it ...Dont get the 50 trim, I was gonna get that but glad I didnt, go with the 60 trim, just all around great turbo for the d16...look at my numbers with 6psi and new numbers are comin soon @ 10psi

try to keep it above 60% for most of your engins cfm range (70-80% is real good). also, try to keep the compressors rpm below 100k.

i've never seen map that goes above like 78%, but ya, 60 or better for the meat of your cfm range is about where you want it. the higher the better of course.
