Default What would YOU do ?

Puttting togather a set up for my DA.. Going to be running T3-T04e and full custom otherwise.. Probably going to be seeing low boost tuned with Hondata..

My question is -- if you were NOT planning on ever going far enough with the project to sleeve it - would you rather run a LS or a B16.. I have both motors at my disposure here.. I have a HMO B16 and an LS from a wrecked Teg..

I have no goals other than to make my street car more fun.. I really dont like the idea of no torque but then again revving to 8k in VTEC with boost sounds fun at the same time..

Just wanted to see what you guys thought as far as power and reliability in B16A1 vs. LS..

Thanks for your help.. And by the way -- I'm running an S1 tranny already if that would matter in your decision.. Thanks guys -- Jeff

Sweet.. 5 replies and one answer... I would only be using the 60-1 because I have it for another project that is quite aways from being complete... I also have a t3-t04e and a t3-t04b from a Drag kit...

I'm not asking about turbo advise.. In heinsight- I shouldnt have even mentioned what turbo I'm going to use..

My question is what MOTOR would you guys run if you were looking for a street car.. Another question for you all --- is it even possible to make good power on a manifold and DP that clear the AC or should I just plan on losing that right away ??? Thanks for the help and sorry I mentioned the monster turbo..

Yes there are plenty of log styl manifolds and 2.5" downpipes that make good power, you will make more power with a 3" downpipe and Equal length mani and quicker spool up too but you lose AC then. Motor wel B16A, B18A/B or B18C they are all good, if you are not going to build it the LS motors are good because it is low compression 9.2:1 so you should be able to run a little more boost without fear of detonatingor blowing up but key is tuning tuning tuning! The LS motor also have great torque #s and low end torque also compared to the VTEC motors. I am a B16A kinda guy myself.

Yeah the torque thing is what I am most worried about. I'm not worried about compression.. I will be tuned well before anything goes too far.. I just cant decide. I think the main factor about using a B16 for me personally is the fact that its gonna have less miles on it (fact).. Yeah the 30k deal is usually BS but its gotta have less miles.. I think I may just go with the B16 and do that..

I'm already starting to think pistons/rods/blockguard now before I even throw the motor in.. But damn -- I'm just looking to get my street car moving.. Oh well-- more comments welcome and appreciated.. Thanks for the help so far-- I am also contemplating pulling the AC too in search for easier power.. Argh !!
