Default B16 Boost / LS Boost

Just got a question towards power wise. I have a full b16 motor, and I have a full LS. I trying to go boost and make Atleast 300+ hp for the spring coming and more later on. But not sure if I should go full b16 w/ LS tranny boost, or LS block and tranny with b16 head boosted. (Obviously built) Not sure what power each brings, just trying to get some opinions.

ill phrase it as parts you dont want to use:

- b16 block
- ls trans (unless you have a full ls motor and small to mid size turbo)

If not LS trans than GSR? I thought LS tranny was better for boost instead of GSR? LS block, b16 head, GSR tranny LSD?

there is much debate about transmissions and what gearing is "better". Truth is that higher(tighter) gears will accelerate faster. It all boils down to math. That said there are tradeoff's like highway cruising and shifting too much etc. ideally you pick a gearset that puts you through the 1/4 mile at the top of 4th, but that mph is dictated primarily by the power and weight of the car along with tire size. Gsr trans is right in the middle and overall most effective offering the best of all worlds.

unless you make a crapton of hp, i mean like 600-700+ i dont see how you would need a long gear trans like the ls and even at that with higher rpm and larger tires you still probably dont need it really

I guess to elaborate on what blackeg said, it depends on your usage of the vehicle too. B16 trans would be good for the track or racing. If you commute at all or will be driving it as a street car- I myself would prefer an LS trans.

b16 turbos can be potent with super high revability. I like them personally. But any B series can go fast. LS trans might be kinda long but still good. Most people say GSR trans is the happy medium for drag racing. Gets to then end of the track at the top of 4th.
