Water temp gauge probe, where to install?

Where should I install the water temp probe in a 2k civic?

For my car I spliced into the water temp sending unit on the block near the upper radiator hose. It could be different ona 2k civic, I've also heard you can tap into the thermostat housing.
Also do a search in the archives, thats where I found a lot of my info.

if you want to do it easy get the greddy temp adapter fits in the radiator hose cut both ends and tap the sensor into the adapter. they have many sizes.

but doesn't the engine only cycle the coolant through the radiator after the engine has reached optimal temp?
