wastegate with 8psi spring opens at 13
I have a ss autochrome wastegate with an 8.7psi spring (checked it is colored blue) and it is hooked up to its own vacume tapped into the charge piping right befor the throttle body. My boost guage is running off its own vacuum source from the manifold. The problem is my wastegate will hold a solid 13 psi according to the boost guage and it will not creep and oppens at exactly 13, but it is supposed to hold 8psi..i cant figure out why its not opening at 8 unless my guage is wrong.

Don't feel bad. I have a 3.8 spring in mine. It opens at 8 and creeps to 10....
Are you running an exhaust on your car? or are you running open down pipe? I think my creeping issue is the lack of back pressure but I dunno why it waits to 8 to open. oh wellz...

Oh i forgot when ssautochrome didnt put the tial logo on their wastegates which are identical they magically lost reliability, damn maybe ill draw my own tial logo on it and it might work right, i am running open down pipe at the moment but i didnt think that would effect it. Maybe im wrong. Ive heard plenty of good results with this wastegate so i dont think it is but if enough people believe the brand is the cause then i will get a new one, im trying to rule out everything else first.

hey an exhaust, thats my problem. Nothing is wrong with tah wastegate. Drag kits do the same thing when you run open down pipe. instead of going to 5 they go to 8-9 and creep. Because of lack of backpressure from running no exhaust. Get an Exhaust on and you should be ok. I need to do the same! lol
