Default Internal Wastegate questions

I have a 16g Mitsubishi turbo, and the stock internal wastegate is 10psi. If all i want to run is 5psi of boost..how will I be able to accomplish this?

you have to change internal wastegate unit to one with a boost level you want coz you can't lower the boost from the what the stock setting is. you can go higher but not lower.

Sorry, I meant No, it's not possible, you need to change out the spring on the wastegate...

i rather just replace the wastegate with a 5-6psi...i don't want to modify the current one...will any internal wastegate work? Or do i have to find a specific one for my DSM 16g....please any info is appreciated.

Well I though that 16G came with a actualtor arm to adjust the boost like the 15G and 18G turbos?

Well you can always get a boost controler.

I thought you can't lower boost lower than the wastegate?

that arm doesnt really control boost. the characteristics of the spring ( K, spring constant) control at what pressure the WG will open. the arm length just determines how much force is applied before the flapper opens up. therefore you can only raise boost with the arm length. and its likely to cause spiking if you try to raise boost that way.

you have to change out that spring in the actuator if you want to lower boost. you can buy actuator assemblies that are lower psi , but not down to 5psi. trust me, i looked.

in short - internal wastegates suck.

ehh....I decided to just get rid of the internal wastegate and run a Tial external......its ultimately the better choice...
