i recently put in a viatara build in my 96 ek
the problem that im having is it wond idle only when foot is on accelerator
and when u get it started it back fires like a champ

it has 1000 cc injectors
70mm tb
and 4 bar map sensor
any ideas?

 

Have you had it tuned ? Cam timing if so ????

 

x2 on the tuned. Sounds like it's got some fuel issues.

 

def sounds like a tune issue or cam timing is off

 

Must be a pretty empty engine bay with only injectors, a throttle body, and a MAP sensor don't you think?

 

i had my fj spec wit vitaras. mine would turn off only on cold start all i would d is give it some gas for a couple of secs then it would idle perfect. i was running chipped p28 stock map and 450cc and gsr tb.i guess just give it some gas wen u start it and see if it stays at idle.

ToooOOO Much Fuel.. Go with Lower CC injectors if you want to keep using the vitara's I would go with 440cc max.. also compression with Viatara pistons is very very low... This is why you are having these problems.. Also what are you using for Tuning and what injector cycle duty are you running at idle?

 

They say its 8.5:1 compression in a D16Y8 but I believe it to be closer to 8:1 its been years since I tested the actual compression, remeber the Viatara Pistons at actual compression wouldnt be as maketable to sale at its actual compression this is why these companys tend to round up and down numbers to make it more buyer friendly when they know the average customer that purchases these pistons are more on a budget..
