Default vacuum at idle and in gear.

just wondering what your boost guages read at idle and in gear.

i have an autometer boost guage. ive been racing at the illegal runs for the last few weeks. been doin alot of all out races and i just now noticed the vacuum reading on my boost guage. i just want to make sure that im not getting paranoid for nothing. i raced a turbocharged jetta a few nights ago... and i accidentally mis-shifted and tached it to redline. the funny part is that i still smoked his ***. however, i got paranoid cause when i redlined it from mis-shifting... it tached pretty damn high. im not sure if this can do some head damage. and since ive been racing alot, i just wanna make sure that lower vacuum at idle doesnt mean my engine is worn down.

but anyways,
when i idle in neutral, i read vacuum at 19.

when i shift gears, the vacuum drops at 21-22 before i accelerate. i just wanna make sure this is normal. i thought that the vacuum was supposed to stay consistent at 21-22 at idle and between gears.

Hey play, which illegals did you hit few weeks ago? Did you race a red Jetta 1.8T with 16" bbs rims in it?

Some peeps said vacuum idle is 20 on the average. Sorry, my boost gauge reads bar.

There is more vacuum when you are decelerating under load than at idle.

-20 is typically the reading you should be getting for idle, but as long as it stays consistent you are OK.

I think you are color blind because it was an orange Jetta.
Anyhow, your car sounds like its ok.
