Default vacuum at idle?!?

Hallo,

today i noticed that my car only hat aprox. 400mbar absolute pressure at idle and at mid revs (4000-5000rpm) during fuel cut off i have also only 350mbar...

normaly i thought my car sucks more vacuum at idle and even when you go close the throttle at high revs.

is this normal (maybe weather conditioned) or do i have something like a vacuum leak or something? What else is possible?

Thanks
Malte.

On stock GSR at idle (fully warm) I see -600mm/HG which is about -800mbar. you guys really see that little vacuum?

You should see at least -20in/HG, which is ~508mm/HG or ~677mbar.

What elevation are you at?

.6 to .8 what? hehe kg/cm^2? if so, that seems alright.

i also thought that the vacuum was higher some month ago...

my elevation is something about 300m above n.n. so nothing special...

as i drive home now, i have 500mbar abs. at idle, but car was not fully warmed up... later it went to 400mbar...

very curious ... is there a chance of a vacuum leak somewhere? i also notices power loss and my turbo smokes like hell (i think the bearing is broken) but when i take everything together, maybe its something simple like a vacuum leak or something... what do you think?

i think i will remove the bumper and recheck very connection in the charge system... maybe a clamp is broken or loosen...

Hope to get some more ideas...
Thanks
Malte.

Could be, but the vacuum leak should cause the car to idle and drive poorly...

Leaks in the charge system will not affect your vacuum at idle... it would have to be a leak *after* the throttle plate...

i'm only geting 10-15 in/hg, but i assume having absolutely no atmosphere at my shitty elevation of 5300' is a contribuiting factor....

hm, the picture of MrGSR look like mine as it was before ;-)

very strange... today i checked very vacuum hose and connection with carb. cleaner without any effect... i also checked the injector seals because i use dsm 450ccms and had to bore mine out with a dremel... so i thought i have a leak there but there is no.

Intake Manifold gasket and throttle body gasket seems also ok.

can it maybe something engine internal???

the engine idles good with the low vacuum, i have a stable idle rpm of ~1000rpm (i put it a littlebit up for better throttle response some time ago) no staling, good response at low rpms the only thing is that it is impossible to get lower vacuums then 400mbar (absolute) in ANY driving condition!

is it possible that this is my broken turbo in the exhaust? maybe its too restrictive now? some experiences?

Thanks
Malte.

only at vacuum?! i don't think so... maximum boost readings are accurate and by the way datalogging show nearly the same like the boost gauge
