Turboedit on PW0 ecu with 380hp
Hello everybody, i have a question about a setup i am having troubles finding ways to tune for
Car-1990 civic si
Engine-B16 with forged internals
Fuel-550cc injectors and 255 pump
Ecu-chipped pw0
I searched around and found that the pw0 and pr3 ecu's aren't as supported by turboedit as the pm6, but that might just be a rumor
The question i have is, will turboedit be able to tune for my needs, i am looking for 300 hp daily, and atleast 350-380hp at the track.
The car will be dyno tuned with a wideband, by a decent tuner.
Is turbo edit a good idea or should i spend the extra cash and try out hondata, and if so what are the diff. between turboedit and hondata
PS-I am not going to go obd1 unless it is the absulute only way i can tune my car

The trouble with turbo edit (things may be updated now, I used it
last ~3months ago)
Is that you have no direct load look-up.....
so you tend to guess which column the car is using at
a particular manifold pressure.
Uberdata and Hondata BOTH indicate exactly where on the
map the ecu is looking, live.
Tuning with out 'real' ecu coulmn reference is nearly as bad as tuning with
a narrowband o2 sensor....(my opinion)
Other than this, any hp goal is easily attainable.

Re: Turboedit on PW0 ecu with 380hp (Jefnes)
as far as i know there is NO boost code available for PW0 and PR3. if you want to tune a PW0 or PR3 engine you have to switch to PM6 (TurboEdit) or OBD1 and use Uberdata, Crome or something else...
i wonder why everyone ask if a specific editor is capable to produce ?? HP... it not depends on the editor you use, it depends on how good the tuner is who tune it...
basicly the ecu had limits itself but thats not editor specific...

Re: Turboedit on PW0 ecu with 380hp (mrx)
So basicall i cannot tune my car with turboedit unless i swap back to a pm6 ecu and use turboedit to engage vtec and all that stuff. That kind of sucks ***....I am really frustrated on what i need to get to tune my car, cause i don't want to skimp on it because it needs to last since it is my daily driver.

Ben Ogle is currently looking for boosted PW0/PR3 people to test boost code.
If you don't mind being a guinea pig, you might end up with a working solution.
As has been said previously, TE has zero support for boost with PR3/PW0. I personally wouldn't recommend switching back to the PM6 at this point because the TE code does not address vtec motors adaquately.
This is best addressed on PGMFI.org - why don't you take it there instead of leaving the blubbering masses of h-t to give their 2 cents?

Re: Turboedit on PW0 ecu with 380hp (blundar)
Blundar covered it well, but I would like to point out that Hondata has discontinued the 'Staged' systems (2-4) so you cant run a PW0/PR3 anymore on Hondata either.

My little write-up on using VTEC with TurboEdit.

I am aware that the systems have been discontinued, but if i can get ahold of on of the old stage 2-4 systems then i can still tune my car with it correct?
It seems as if things are leaning toward hondata now.
Thanks for all the help guys.

Id go with TE man, save some money. You can buy a pre-chipped PM6 from xenocron for a great price and Im pretty darn sure they have got VTEC working
I bought my ecu off him for a great price and Im going to have him personally tune it
Hondata PW0 is discontinued, TE has ongoing support with tons of junkies to help you out

...and growing (and advancing everyday)
thanks for the props WOT, cant wait to meet up when you get down this way
Honestly, I dont think 300-380 is a problem for TurboEdit at all...and now that we have found a very cheap ($18) 2.5 Bar MAP sensor, it should be cake

Thats right...I remember you wanted to run more boost. I told you it would only be a matter of time
