OK here's the?. I'm going turbo in the future & would like to know if I should install a lightweight flywheel when I go to give the car a better clutchfor the extra load? I've been told to leave the stock f/w on the car by someone who has a pretty strong turbo car himself. I just want to know the reason behind this. Of course you wouldn't want to change the final drive to a lower ratio but why wouldn't you want to lighten the load on the crank?

yes lightweight flywheels always help. GET it.

They don't always help, you can go overboard, I'd stick with around a 12 lb flywheel, any lighter than that and you lose the rotating inertia and will cause revs to fall faster in between shifts.

9-11 lbs is fine, helps to buid boost faster

i got the tilton and i think it weighs like 12-14 including disc, pressure plate and i love it kinda hard to engage, some times the car just dies cause theres no weight to it. but i got over it spools faster

The motor will spool faster and climb rpms faster.
The only tradeoff is your 60' times will suffer unless your a hardcore racer running a good drivetrain and can build boost at the line. Also you may have a problem with the car coming to an idle from high rpms and having the a/c on isnt gonna help much either.
The best all around flywheel is definetly oem ITR.

By the way, Im selling my TODA 8 lb. chromoly flywheel if your interested

I've been running a CM 7.5lb flywheel in both my JRSC GSR and stock B20 (both with S80/lsd tranny) and once I figured out how to launch it, I fell in love. The car revs like a streetbike, heel-toe is cake, and the lower mass freed up some hp.

Imho, one of the better $300 mods out there.

Anyone know how Indigo flywheels are? Im going to buy one with my ACT 6 puck clutch. Im turboing my D16Z6 and need a little advice. Otherwise are there any cheaper alternatives?

I've found the clutch/flywheel combo for $550.

im running a Indigo flywheel, 8.5lb, and have no issues at all. i love it. i was a little worried about it untill i saw it, the construction/quality is real nice. i dont think you will be disapointed, and for the price

Watch on aluminum flywheels with high whp and torque levels. The aluminum tends to get stress fatigued very easily and permanent deformation can result. Chromoly is the best choice for a lighten flywheel.

I've got a fidanza flywheel for sale, looks brand new, just had it turned because the resurfacable plates weren't worn that bad. 225 shipped, for B-series.

I got the ATS carbon clutch and flywheel for my 99 Si Turbo. Flywheel weighs about 3.6kg. I love it. If you can't afford this kit, get the Toda flywheel , I heard they are awesome. Don't worry bout idling problems. You will love a lighter flywheel especially w/ forced induction
