ok.. got a question about the oil return line ..

does it drain with gravity ??

i'd think since oil pressure is used to feed the turbo that there should be alittle bit of oil pressure pushing out the oil ..

my prob. is .. with all the fittings and such on the turbo/oil drain and the pan .. i don't really have alot of room to run it straight down .. i guess my turbo sits kinda low .. i'll have a pic up later to show .. but right now i have it going straight down and into a U then into the pan .. i think it will work .. just need the gravity question answered ..

yes. it drains with gravity. Make sure that the line doesnt bend below the oil pan fitting as this may casue the line to be clogged thus causing problems to your turbo.

so what happens to the oil pressure delivery ?? it has to push out the oil alittle bit..

oh well .. i guess i'll soon find out ..

I'm having the same problem, I welded a fiting onto the oil pan before I mounted my turbo trying to save time when I did the install and now I found out my turbo sits alot lower than I expected. The oil flange on the turbo is level with the oil pan gasket and I now have to figure out a way to move the fitting on the pan or buy a new pan

I've had nothing but problems with these god damn oil lines. Everything else was just peachy keen! ******* oil lines!!!!!!!

oil return is a bitch.
just spent hours yesterday trying to run a new oil return without kinking or going under the oil return fitting.
barely made it work.
could be a lot better though.
there is hardly any room in my DA with the drag manifold and t3/t4. downpipe is completely in the way

that is exactly what happened to me and exactly how mine looked. ran ok, there were no probs for about 2k miles. however, i was always a bit nervous when i parked my car on my inclined driveway while the car was cooling down. think about how it works. its pointing towards the sky, so how does oil drain in that setup? b/c my line was too long like yours, and almost parallel to the ground at some points.

Why not throw another 45 degree fitting on the pan, and shorten up the braided line?

There's got to be a better way than that gigantic loop of hose. Perhaps put a 90 or a 45 on the pan and come straight off the bearing section?

(Here's how we did our return line, not that it helps you)

why don't you clock the center section. the oil feed would be behind the turbo and the drain should be more towards the piping

Good point. Garret recomends no more than a 30deg. angle on the bearing housing. Try making the drain parrall with the ground.

Got any pics of your oil feed? Part #s too maybe? I have the same pan and just wanted to see how much it's gonna run for the feed and drain. Just need that done and downpipe......oh so close.

Have you thought about using a turbo timer? Seems to me like that would cure your worries.
