yup...oil coming out of the turbo is kinda foamy , so it wants to sit on top of the oil. Your return is below the oil level in the pan....Do you see where that is gonna be a problem? No problems though just put a cap on it and weld another bung above it, just make sure you leave ebough clearance to screw the fitting on

well its gonna cause oil to back up in the turbo, sooo when you start to see smoke you know its a problem, personally I would fix it first but its your turbo seals, so do what you want

NOT NECCESSARILY

many many many aftermarket turbo kits use a banjo fitting in the oil drain plug for the return. thats the LOWEST POINT.

the oil level in the line will never be higher than the oil level in the oil pan. if the turbo its above that level, you SHOULD be ok. many smoky turbos have happened due to what people thought was either a dead turbo, too much oil pressure, or poor drain location. usually the real problem is crankcase pressure backing up into the turbo, cause they boosted an OLD motor with a stuck PCV valve.

if the turbo is up nice and high, you should be ok, realistically. the "up high" oil drain isnt as important as people thought in the past. we've put MANY MANY oil drains below the oil level , with no problems due to drain placement

Im not saying it is gonna be without a doubt a problem but why take the risk with a $1200 turbo? even you said "you should be ok"...I dunno, maybe its just me.....wheres your oil drain located?

mine is located at the middle of the pan. well under the oil level.

set up everything else right, and you'll be FINE. promise

Dont put the drain too high, or right under the 10mm bolt/stud for the oil pan... Then you cant get the nut or bolt in when putting the oil pan back on... Dont ask me how I know...

While we are at it. What about the right hose size for the oil drain.
Is 1/2" Inside Diameter too big or about right?

i dont think you can EVER go to big with a drain hose, it'd be impossible, only to small.
