Turbo oil supply/return options?

Turbo oil supply/return options?
Has anyone made their own oil system for a turbo? I'm talking about giving the turbo it's own oil pan. Just an idea that popped into my head.
Or, if I used the engine's oil system: Is tapping into the engine's oil pan really the only option for the return line? Couldn't I send the oil down the dipstick tube or tap the return line into the oil fill cap? It all goes to the same place, right?
Just curious about the options here. Looking for intelligent answers; trolls need not reply.

Oil returns are gravity fed and should be kept as short as possible....just dont take any shortcuts and do it right the first time.
