I'm not too sure about that because I had done the OBDI conversion before the cam install and I didn't have a problem advancing the base timing more than 12 deg with the cam gear zeroed out.

well did you have your timing in hondata set to a base of 16* in the maps and then have your distributor set to 12? That could explain it. Also did you have to advance the dizzy at all?
Me and numerous other people have had to advance our distributors all the way to get to the proper base timing after converting to obd1. Some include BlackCRX and luti from over on the uber forums.
