Default Surging Idle....why??

I have a 99 GSR turbo and the idle is surging recently. It has been doing it since i boosted the car about 5 weeks ago, but lately it has gotten worse. The car is running on a street tuned basemap (not bad, but not great). I was wondering if the idle surge was something that i can change once the car is tuned on July 10, or if it is something mechanical that i have to change. I have a new Tial BOV to replace my RFL because i think that might be part of the problem....and with my setup i get mild compressor surge.

What can i do except deal w/ it? Also, my car idles at 1500 in closed loop and right around 2100 during open loop.

The symptoms that you are describing sound very much like a small vacuum leak somewhere in the system. Does the boost pressure come up smoothly? Do you get boost spikes?

it is boosting smoothly and doesn't spike at all...

it is running at 2100 during warm up...then at operating temp it is at 1500. Then it surges from 2000 to 1000 and back. I watched my boost gauge and the vaccuum is steady at 21psi but once it surges it pulls from 21 to 17 and then back.

under your throttle body is the fast idle air control valve...unbolt your throttle body and then take off the cover on the bottom peice of the throttle boddy (there is a thread on how to do this)...then you screw the plastic thing all the way down and it should work...if it doesnt u need a new iacv(or just clean it)
