Default Still learning about turbo...

I am thinking of getting a greddy street legal turbo (after i learn more about it and how to maintain it) i was wondering what other mods i need so that this turbo would run well. This car is going to be my daily driver so i need to make sure that everything stays street legal and reliable. Thx

3" exhaust
turbo timer (i dont know what thhe greddy kit comes with)
boost controller
gauges
proper tuning

if you want reliability, i would get bigger injectors and an intank pump. (once again, i dont know what the greddy kit comes with)

also, tuning is very important. a vafc and a couple hours on the dyno will help you tremendously.

Spark plugs NGK 7's (colder plugs) , Magnecore 8.5 mm wires

Well he said Street Legal, so I guess that means keeping the blue box, gauges like someone said above. If you get an IC or BOV it won't be street legal cause then you are venting into the atmosphere!! I hope this helps.

I believe the greddy kit comes with bigger injectors...I don't know about the intank pump, but its a good idea. Also be sure to get the intercooler kit as well. Just make sure your engine is in really good running condition, and like they said tuning is very important. Plus you might want to start get oil changes every 2,000 miles, just to be on the safe side. Just in general be sure to pay very clos attnetion to maintanance. You might want to check gaskets seals bearings, etc.

How would that make it not street legal? That is just charged air drawn in from the filter. It is not exhaust gases or anything... also aren't all BOV venting into the atmosphere? even the OEM turbo cars do this....

The reason that the Greddy Turbo Kit is street legal is because they spent hella hella money into making it street legal by running tests. But, the kit cannont be alter or it isn't considered street legal. Which means no intercooler kit, no BOV, etc. Well, that is what i heard and have read on honda-tech. HAHA

Can someone please confirm this???

IMO if you want just a little more juice out of your car then the greddy kit is cool or even a JRSC! and you can be street legal. But if you want more out of your car, as in being really fast, I think you might have to do upgrades that would make your car turbo kit no longer street legal.

you CANNOT vent a BOV into the atmo...Most OEM turbo cars vent BOV back into the charge pipe. As soon as you alter anything on the GReddy kit like adding an intercooler, you render the kit illegal.

No injectors or pump. Just got mine the other day. Came with a turbo, all the piping, ecu, manifold, and air filter. I bought a GReddy ETG, APEXi TT, AC boost pres., oil pres., and h2o temp. gauges. No boost controller. Was told I didn't really need it. I'm only gonna run the stock setting 4psi.

Isnt all that internal stuff on the greddy kit gunna make it easier for detonation because its all internal and there is no intercooler and inturn there would be a greater internal heat? How would you cool everything down to the point where it is very reliable. I am hesitant because of reliability issues this is my daily driver.

& the greddy kit runs such a low amount of boost, you wont have to worry about detonation. they've tested the kit & its not gonna blow your engine unless YOU do somethin stupid
