Default squealing noise during boost?????

I just started boosting today, but when I get under boost, I heard a loud squealing noise from about 3 psi - 8 psi. Any idea's what would cause this? Will it go away after using it for a while....I did just put it in, could that be it?

Oh, by the way, this is a used 14b turbo that had about 80k miles on it.

You sure it's not your turbo spooling? It may be the bearings/bushings (niot sure what comes in those turbos) are bad/going bad .

if its not the noise of it spooling, it might be the blades hitting the housing making a metalish squel noise.

What does your turbo spooling sound like?

like a pissed-off jet, combined with the sound of a screaming newborn, all on top of an engine note that quadrooples in speed because of the newfound air....

Sounds to me like your wastegate is bleeding off boost and sqeualing..

I had that same problem.. What BOV are you running ? If your running a factory unit-- that would for surely be it.. If its aftermarket-- that still could be it..

Check your BOV for leaks.. I'll put money on it.. I know the sound you describe..

Not sure if it will apply here, but on my old Supra this was usually caused by a leaky manifold. Supra owners called it the "Screaming Banshee" mod. Might be worth a quick check. I think what caused the noise was all that boosted air trying to squeese through a small space and whistling, thats why you don't hear it out of boost.
