Default Removing Blockguard

Is it ok to remove a blockguard? If so, how would you do so safely without damaging the block?

I've had one removed. I couldnt get it out so a machine shop did. Costed more to get it out than the actual blockguard .

I'm trying to figure out a way to get it out myself. I have another block with it in and want to take it out.

maybe to get it sleeved the right way?

Is the block guard just tapped in? or is it welded on? if its just tapped in, from my guessing, maybe weld something to it, have an L shapped thing at the end and hammer the "thing" out?

Thats my only idea. Of course I randomly pulled that outta my ****, but its a free bump.

Nuforms or ones like it, you can put some screws in the water holes and pull/tap out.

Exactly what i had to do with my old setup. I just screwed big wood screws into it and used a chain hoist to pull it out evenly from bth sides.

Wood screws as in the ones that you use for dry wall apps?

I want it removed because my engine started overheating yesterday at a stoplight. I've had it for over a year and half and it started doing this. Which leads me to believe that it is obstructing water flow.

I was wondering the same thing. I have a newformz and was thinking about screwing in some screws and removing it. I want to take them out b/c I cracked a sleeve. Then was thinking of putting the block in front of a bullet heater and getting it cherry red and pulling it out. But not to sure how that will work

If you had it for a year and a half and it just started doing this I think your problem lies elsewhere. As far as taking it out, I think that the screw thing would work the best.

just get some metal clothes hanger and bend it so that you will weave through at least 2 holes and pull it out(remember, one clothes hanger on each side)
