R3X5150 needs Help in identifying the capabilities of a turbo "deal"
hello all. I got this turbo and a bunch if turbo parts at a good deal the other day. I was wondering if anyone can help me identify it. I'm sure it's a clone of something, not name brand so to speak. I'm just trying to find out what itd be comparable to. I know it's a T3/T04E .50 a/r compressor ,.63 a/r turbine. I've found a few online but thought I'd ask everyone here what they thought. Thanks.

re: R3X5150 needs Help in identifying the capabilities of a turbo "deal"
R3X5150, please make sure that you've properly separated the compressor and turbine housings to get get actual measurements (using a Caliper please, not a tape measure) of the inducer / Exducer of both the compressor and exhaust wheels. This is important especially if there are no stamps or markings on the wheels/covers that you got as a knock-off.
The housing A/R markings say nothing about what is inside the turbocharger that you got a "good deal" for. This also allows you to find out if there is any damage to the wheels / shaft itself, as this would not be part of a standard cost of a "rebuild".
Please note that the "trim" means nothing except for the distance between inducer and exducer and is calculated.
You have to know what you're getting before buying, "good deal" or not. If this was part of a package "deal", then be prepared to toss a number of parts including the turbocharger, as they are rarely worth the sum of their parts. If it is damaged, take the opportunity to try and rebuild it yourself; if nothing else, you'll gain some experience as to what components make up a turbocharger.
Good luck.
