proof BOV not blowing off?
Hey guys,
I recently obtained a JDM Proof BOV that was on a RB25DETT. Cool beans, but I can't get the darn thing to blow off. it has an adjustment bolt and nut on the top, i assumed screwing it out or unscrewing it would lower the blow off pressure. Screwed it almost all the way out and can't get the thing to blow off.
ANy tips or tricks for me? or is this thing just bad? Its got a good vacuum source.
Thanks!

some blow off valves came with stiff springs for running higher boost pressures. how many psi are you running?

cutting it, not really. even though you have taken a coil off, the spring rate esentially remains the same.
what you could do is take it apart and compare the spring to those of other bov's to see which ones might be compatible...

Sounds like it is a pull type valve. Can you even push the valve open by hand? If its a piston type the bore could be scored. You have usually clean them up with scotchbright if it is. Get a vacuum pump and see how much vacuum is required to open it.

test your vacuum line to the BOV. with it disconnected from the BOV and revinng the engine, you should feel a slight suction if you block the opening with your finger.
$heeet, with my looow 7 psi on my non-VTEC D, my Greddy type R is working....

update: I took the BOV apart, and sure enough, there was pretty much no lube left on the piston, it wouldnt move. I took it apart, cleaned it and lubed it. should work fine now.
edit: drove the car, it works great! its a very low key sound, not too loud, but when you get on it and hit about 10 psi it sounds nice. Great BOV!!! very rare too, its definitely unique.
