pvc out now smoke
Ok peps got a turbo SOHC y8.. I took my pvc and hollowed it out with a drill bit and put it back with hose dumping to ground, and the valve cover has breather.
Now car is putting white smoke at stop lights at idle. Just wondering if anyone else has same issue ? Its been this way for over a couple months now, just never posted about it.
Is it because I need to now run a vac line ie., slashcut to exhaust ? Boost guage is showing Vac at idle 14-16inches, and while driving and let off gas peddle it goes to 20inches. Seems normal to me.

maybe a blown headgasket. Oil burning should be blue smoke. White smoke is usually coolant. Your idle vacuum is also very bad, it should be more like 20-21 inches.

while your motor running, take off the oil cap an see if theres white smoke coming like a choo choo train, if so, youve got blowby, which means , your pistons rings are going.

Re: pvc out now smoke (markdman)
Thats not what Im looking for, the purpose of the pvc removal is to keep oil pressure off the rings under boost. Im trying to see if I need to also introduce another vac source via slash cut tube to exhaust, since it only does it at idle. Takes about 30sec to 1min at start up before it starts to put a whitish hase out the tail pipe. Take off and drive and no smoke, but when stopped at a traffif light it will come back after sitting for a min waiting for light to change.

Na no exhaust leak, was under there today when checking oil return line. This is a real mystery.. Update: we did this to a friends turbo z6 and his now smokes too at idle ? So Im thinking I need to run a line from pvc to catch to slashcut exhaust.???? I wont be able to do this till next pay check to order the stuff. I just wanted to be srue this is what I need before I spend money.

i'm doin the same thing ur doin. Im running my hose from the black box and have it run straight to the ground. I have the hose slash cut and have it poking out from the frame so it can catch the air and pull the blowby. I dont seem to be smoking any bit. Im driving a d16z6 greddy kit fyi

Re: (DarknessJ)
Cool Ill mess with it later... I just hooked it back up with new pvc today, but left valve cover to breether, smoke gone and vac is 17-19inches at idle.. Ill wait till I have stuff for the slash cut to exhaust and see if that works, If not Im just gonna run pvc and take my chances. I like oil pressure on the rings anyway, keeps boost from blowing down on top and folding one over, and the oil keeps it all good..Ha, yeah f#uk it..........
