Re: Tial blow Off valve
n00b 1 "So Eric, what spring do you have on that BOV ?
n00b 2 "12 pound spring"
n00b 1 "and you boost to 20 psi right ?"
n00b 2 "right."
n00b 1 "When does the surge occur ?"
n00b 2 "at 5, 10, and 11 pounds "
to top it off, the end Title states "TiaL 50mm BOV, da Surge maker."
.
They make it seem as if that's what's supposed to happen and it's normal. It's NOT. Compressor surge will destroy that turbo very fast. Ofcourse you'll have surge when you're below the boost level of the BOV spring. n00bs.
OP, since you're having this problem at a high RPM range then I'de recommend finding out what spring you have in that BOV and get a weaker spring put in.

What are you talking about? Do you have any idea what that video is about? Its Synapse doing his best to degrade Tial's BOV to better himself and the Synchronic BOV. Pay attention son.. Nowhere in that video do they say Comp Surge is good and normal. The are implying the exact opposite.

Re: Tial blow Off valve
That synapse video is all BS, they put the wrong spring in there to make it perform poorly, here is the proof:

Yep that first posted video above is one of the many Synapse attempted hit job video on Tial.
I guess when you cant beat someone else product, you falsify a test and make a youtube video of it cause people believe everything they see on the internet without doing any research to understand the background.
To the OP: What spring do you have in the BOV and what in/hg of vac you pulling at idle? Seems most commonly people dont understand how to select the proper spring, many think that you select the spring based on how much boost pressure you run... which is incorrect.
Any chance you can get a short clip of the flutter your talking about for us to see. It would make it easier to judge if it is compressor surge and something to be concerned with.

Re: Tial blow Off valve
please give more details on the setup including engine, whp, how you have vacuum routed to the BOV, what rpm are you getting the fluttering? what spring do you have in the BOV?
in my experience i get some fluttering at low rpm/ low boost. blows off clean at higher boost and rpm. and by fluttering i do not mean surge, i dont think ive ever heard a turbo surge in person much less my own car.

Re: Tial blow Off valve
i was told that the spring inside the BOV has to be the same vac pressure your getting at idle. am i right? like if my car is 21 vac at idle i need a pink tial bov spring so it can work properly.

Re: Tial blow Off valve
well i dont know about the vac yet ill try to find out some more info on that. Now some one asked about my cams well they seem to wanna rev up to 9k but i just leave it at 8200rpm so yea. The car is not fully tuned yet only because i dont have a boost controller. well maybe if i use my spring like it should be used i wouldnt have the problem hopefully

Re: Tial blow Off valve
i think most honda applications can use the 11psi spring with no issues. the 12lb may be a little too heavy (refer to that first video of the subby)

Re: Tial blow Off valve
See link to chart for spring selection in the post before this one... you need to know how much vac (in/hg) your motor pulls before you can properly select a spring as I indicated in my first reply.
Just saying generally this one will work cause it work on someone elses is not the way to pick a spring... especially with those cams which probably greatly affect how much vac (in/hg) your motor pulls at idle.

Re: Tial blow Off valve
also i just read the part where he is only running 5psi. thats why its fluttering. completely normal. but you should still check to make sure you have the right spring. might need a lighter spring with those cams but follow the instructions above to be sure
