Default Problems after install with idle...

Well, I put in my resistor box, 3 bar map, 1000cc injectors and a chipped P28 ecu with a basemap from phearable.net and the car's idle was all ****. What's weird was the IACV was making a really weird noise and car would not idle. I could not figure it out so I just put the stock map sensor, injectors, and ecu back in and the car was fine. The car is a OBD2a 98 Integra GSR with this setup, any ideas?:

Motor:
Stock B18C1
ARP Head Studs
Full-Race Cam Gears
Edelbrock Victor X Intake Manifold
2 Inch Half Core Radiator with Slim Puller Fan

Turbo:
Full-Race Pro-street Manifold
Full-Race 3 Inch DP
Thermal R&D 3 Inch Exhaust
Tial 50mm BOV
Tial 44mm Wastegate
RLD-Fab Wastegate Open Dump
Precision SC6152e Turbo
Precision AS1025 600hp Medium FMIC
2.5" IC Pipes
Fast-Turbo Oil Lines w/ Sandwich

ECU:
P28 OBD1 ECU
GM 3 Bar Map Sensor
Phearable Base Map
Boomslang OBD2a to OBD1 Harness

Fuel:
Precision 1000cc Injectors
Custom Fuel Harness w/ OBD1 Clips
Walbro 255LPH In-Tank Fuel Pump
Stock GSR Fuel Rail
Stock GSR Fuel Pressure Regulator

Transmission:
Competition Clutch Stage 4 w/ Ultra Light Steel Flywheel
Energy Supension Shifter Bushings

Suspension:

3 bar + huge injectors = needs tuned.

But the clicking IACV is kinda odd. Maybe try another ecu?

Yea, that's what I figured, but I thought I would try a basemap for only $30 bucks, I'm getting tuned on November 10th. Kinda pisses me off that the ecu I bought might be toast, but maybe i can see if I can swap in another P28 and see how it works out.

It really sucks not getting into boost when I know it's there!

Do you think if i didn't install my resistor box correctly, it could contribute to the bad idle, or would it not start at all if I didn't install correctly?
I just don't want to show up to get tuned with a broken setup, you know.

More than likely it is the lack of tuning for your specific motor. It is kinda hard to not install it right, especially if the motor runs/revs up.

I know a lot of times there is an issue with the peak and hold injectors being used with the stock resistor box. Most of the P/H injecotrs require the 2.5 to 3 ohms. But the stock resistor box can only get about 1.6 ohms. Try the FJO at the very least, that helps out A LOT. About the IACV ticking or whatever it is doing, I remember hearing that on another car before, but it was something fluky, I can not remember. So I am not much help with that one . . . sorry man. Also make sure that you scaling is correct for the 3 bar that you put in.

Well if I had the resistor box wrong, wouldn't the injectors not even fire and just fry my ecu?

very nice setup by the way. don't F up your motor trying to boost without a tune. just get it tuned.

base maps are tough with 1000cc injectors. other variables are magnified when switching to such large injectors

I got it up to about two psi, I just had to hear that thing spool up under a tunnel.

hey,
if u r doing the tune i would try to help

1- make sure the TPS adjust is still good!
2- map wiring is good
3- which software are you using? well if you are using crome there is a plugin to disable the IACV and make sure your idle is set like 1000, well i recommend to do it now to know if its the IACV doing all of this or not!
4- make sure you run the propre plugin on that base to run with those injectors...as i remember anything +720cc injectors will do that since you cant adjust their duty cycle (if you are using uber or other software am not sure if u can adjust your duty cycle resolution)
5- some engine like rich if u wanna enrichin the mix

6- oh yea make sure you are on open loop to know whats really happening
7- check injector wiring (dont need too if u already fit stock ecu and worked fine), but do check the resistor box!

Thanks for the input guys, but I'm going to just wait to get tuned, November 10th is just around the corner.

The issue could be anything from injector / resistor box wiring to map sensor wiring.

The basemap could also be the issue, a basemap for 1000cc injectors is hit or miss.

I had a simular issue with a local customer in orlando, it ended up being his map sensor wiring....

Let me know if I can help you out with anything.

Just some info on the injectors that Neb is using.
The injectors resistence is 2.6 ohms
The resistor box the is used with this setup puts 6.5 ohms in the circuit to the ECU that gives a total of 9.1 ohms per injector at room temp.
Map wiring was confirmed to be correct.

Is the vehicle throwing any codes at all ?
Are you POSITIVE you have the proper plug plugged into your intake air temperature sensor ?

If you had the plugs crossed at one point, you could have burnt your IAT sensor and it will not throw a code for it...

Do you have access to a wideband ?

I confirmed that it was the correct plug in the IAC. I have had hondas come in to my shop with that problem already. lol

We should have checked the codes but it was 10:00 PM on sunday night and we had to get out of the shop.

But does everything look okay for the resistance with the box and injectors?

I had a similar problem when i started mine up for the first time after the turbo install. I had a nasty vaccum leak, the o-rings on the injectors didn't seat correctly with the larger (550 in my case) injectors. Try it again and check out you vac side on the boost guage, should pull ~20 at idle. Good luck!
