When you see the pic u can draw your own conclusion, the end was a deep black color like it got burnt to hell, and it snapped in the middle in all honestly I think I remember him saying it was the oil pump that failed, but this was more than a year ago so I dont recall for sure, but I wil get the story along with the pic when I see him, I will try to go to his shop tomorrow. the funny thing is he now only uses eagles.

from what your telling me , is a bearing spun , heated the rod up and snaped it , again , show me evidence that a pauter rod has snapped from having a flaw , or being weak.

you are asking me to do what? when did I imply that any rod was weak? I created this thread trying to get rod bolt questions answered, not try to single out a rod or manufacturer, I have no evidence that pauter or eagle or crower or any rod has a flaw and is weak, and I have never heard of an eagle rod failing locally and thats what eveyone here runs from what I know. again the reason I want pauters for my second motor is because the design is said to support the type of application I am building.

everyone seems to have love hate relationship with eagles, I remember last month someone posted pics of eagles after his motor grenaded, and they didnt even have a scratch. and with all the bad talk about eagle no one seem to have proof that installation was done correctly or even proof that a rod did break, including you. but I am not here to have a pissing contest. either way honda-tech success or failure stories doesnt influence my decsion when buying parts. I want pauters specifically for a reason.

I bought scat's which look just like eagles. Shipped with arp2000 bolts, 3/8". Put 500 miles on them so far. I trust them.

Hell, they all feel the same no matter how much they cost... until one snaps. We'll see.

There is a little info on some Eagle rods when compared to crower's if anyone cares. I have exact measurements of the eagles in that thread as well. As far as what's been discussed sofar... I'm with earl on this one.

That's the thread where Luke got into one of his pissing contests with Earl over the design of the Pauters.

You do get what you pay for with rods and Eagle is the only cheap rod that I would ever consider using...but only for lower horsepower apps.
For Eagle to make the change in bolt size, you KNOW there had to be problems somewhere with the smaller bolts.

Hella_JDM, sorry but Eagle rod end caps don't just "fly off." I'm going with builder error, no matter how reputable you say the builder was.

pauter has an excellent x beam design, you spend a fortune on your build, why go cheap with eagle rods, its always good to have more than enough in my book

Well I tell you what I would buy enough timex watches to last me 2 or 3
lifetimes and still spend less then 90k. Anyways, you can argue this forever.
I'm happy with eagles and would buy again but even if you were to spend
more money cause you wanted a "stronger" rod why not manely? From
prices I've seen they seem to be alittle cheaper.

I'm surprised no one mentioned manley until now. I believe there good for about 600. Maybe because the tread is tittled pauter vs. eagle.

Personally I'm running the eagle rods with the 5/16 bolt. Motor's been running for 1 1/2 years now. My hp goals weren't that high when I did the initial build so I went with eagle. If I had to do it all over again. Correction, on my next build I'm going with manley or pauter.

When I called Eagle to ask them how much hp there rods were good for they told me the rods with 5/16 bolt(s) were good for 600, and the one's with the 3/8 bolt(s) were good for 900hp.

My current #'s on the eagle rods are in signature. (knocking on wood that they last a little longer.)
