Pauter used the same shitty small bolts as Eagle. When Eagle stepped up to make everyone here happy, so did Pauter.
I love how all the people who hate Eagles never had any real life experience with them .
What about GE sleeves sinking? Everyone still uses GE dont they?
Install error is a bitch isnt it.
BTW, i ran Eagles on 2 blocks with 5/16 and never a prob, matter of fact the one in the car now has Eagles and Ge. double the trouble.
FYI: Eagle reads Honda-Tech whether you know it or not.
I have talked to them on numerous occasions and they flat out told me , they swapped the rod bolts to appease the bench racers on Honda-tech.com. And its a smart move. even though there was nothing wrong their sales prob went up big time just by switching the bolts.
Earl says they switched for a reason. Then why did his Beloved Pauter switch? SAme reasons, to make more money by people thinking they are needed

I totally understand what itr206 is saying, Pauter went and added a heavier bolt when the exsisting one wasnt an issue, that has to be to sell more rods by creating more peace of mind.
People will realize one day. Everything in this world comes down to money. The people who push Eagles or Pauters or whatever other brand, more than likely make money off of them and need to sell a certain amount to keep their selling rights and prices with that company.
Most of the opinions on this thread are either Sellers or X brand, or friends of the sellers on X brand. . And i stress opinions becuase not alot of the people on here have had real world experience with both brands.
Anyone who has been here for a while knows who and what the Honda-Tech hypes are.
IMHO when looking for opinions on a certain product I do alot of research and talk to the people who run the stuff, not sell them. A good sales man can sell anything, doesnt mean its really good or the best.

aww the famous h-t hype..
it can make a company or break it..
I can name at least 2-3 companies it has made and broke
The way i see it is.. The eagle to pauter ratio is like 1000:1. EVERY single company has had a few defective parts.

Precision did plenty of business before they even added a Sport compact line, Drag was around before H-T..and CP Made plenty of pistons and was a well known name before they started honda apps...
Full-Race played the H-T market well, but im sure with their skills they would be sucessfull in ANY market..

He is right though. yes their quality is good and Yes Geoff's skills are more than above par, but Honda-Tech word of mouth has made alot of these companies what they are today.
From Earl Pushing CP and Benson and Pauter. And everyone loves Earl, CP and Benson and Pauter are now the most sought after products.
ArTurbo and everyone else here who pushes Precision has made quite a name for them. People love Art so they buy what he recommends.
Its all in marketing and who is marketing the product
Like I said, people that are here long enuff see the trends. I could go on, but i get tired of this same debate. If you are a no one on this site and try and sell something or bring up a new product you will be fased out quickly or flamed away. If you are one of the beloved, you will be praised all the time even when you are wrong
I see it, i just keep to myself about it in most cases and just deal with it because i have alot of friends on this site and this is UNDOUBTEDLY the best Honda site for tech info and news. If I was a new user coming in and seeing 1/2 the crap that goes on in here, i prob wouldnt visit back.

Ill tell you why they switched......it does not matter how much HP you make...its the RPM/Stroke/each compents weight.....
you wanna spin 10K with 555gram rods and a 480 gram piston on a 89mm stroke youll be fine with 220Kpsi rod bolts.....
this would req...either an ARP 2000 3/8" bolt or a ARP 5/16" CA bolt(which is a $150 dollar upgrade for Eagles...only a select few know about this, not your average builder) so its cheaper to tool up for 3/8" bolts!
spin a 95mm stroke and the same components to 10K and you will be applying over 12,000#'s(reciprocating wt) on the rod bolts thats over 2,500# more than the short stroke....if you turn the rpms down to 9K youll be in the load range of a 89mm stroke motor....so what does this mean? (I) will need a rod with a 7/16" bolt which will be rated at 280Kpsi+...
ARP has 1 material that is available with this strength....AerMet 100....
its application is used in TopFuel according to ARP's description of the material...
When was the last time you heard of a team using that kind of technolgy on a sport compact? I cant afford the rods but I have research it very well....our setup is out of our budget...what to do?...stasy long stroked or go back to the 89mm stroke...the rods will cost me $7500 for 12 rods....they will have 300Kpsi rod bolts that are 7/16" and weigh in at 515grams each....they will use a bearing that will be custom made to handle the load also....which is included in the price of the rods...it will also take 3 months to see the rods too....
I have all the formulas here for people who want to calculate it for themsleves....
BTW we never bent/broke any rod yet, weather it was an Eagle or Crower or Oliver....the rod bolts failed everytime....

While those companies were "HYPED" up on H-T ...H-T certainly did NOT make those companies? Do you know how many domestic (mainly GN guys) swear by precision turbo's?? Didn't Nascar use CP pistons?? Pauter has been making rods for everykind of car..(there big in the BMW/VW, etc markets). My brother runs CP's and Pauters in his VR6, it was about $1000 for pistons and $1200 for rods. Im sure teh honda business helps them but H-T DEF did NOT make those companies...

i didnt say they made those companies per say. But im sure their sales went up drastically due to Honda-tech and its Hypes.
And there are a few people on here getting rich off of optimzing the sales for these products, knowing how to market them and having a good repor with the people here.
Hey who am I to knock it, its business. Money makes the world go round.
But giving other companies bad names the way they do is wrong. Dont let Honda-tech groupies make your desicions.
BTW AR FAB
, informative post. That is what i was always told does it to the smaller rod bolts is the RPMS.
I just never understood the Pauter/Eagle threads becuase Pauter Advertises the exact same size/part number/material bolts standard in their rods as Eagle did standard on their rods. Yes Eagle had the option to upgrade if the customer wanted to , So did Pauter.

. when you start going the one off route for rods you can build them any way you want . but for us off the shelf guys , for me anyway it was a better choice to go with the pauters . even though my horsepower goal is only 400whp. that can change , what happens if i want 600??? i dont want my rods to be the limiting factor . and anyone who says overbuilding a block is useless hasnt underbuilt a block.

thats funny becuase Eagle told me not to even bother thinking about upgraded bolts until thinking about close to 700hp.
Diff strokes for diff folks. Myself as well as others have had no probs with them. And i know for a fact mine were tqed correctly, becuase if I didnt do them , i was over the persons shoulder who did. BTW we never bent/broke any rod yet, weather it was an Eagle or Crower or Oliver....the rod bolts failed everytime....

Not many of us are going to spin to 10k...So, would that mean the people that would spin to 8k with ~350whp be ok with the 5/16?
you wanna spin 10K with 555gram rods and a 480 gram piston on a 89mm stroke youll be fine with 220Kpsi rod bolts.....
this would req...either an ARP 2000 3/8" bolt or a ARP 5/16" CA bolt(which is a $150 dollar upgrade for Eagles...only a select few know about this, not your average builder) so its cheaper to tool up for 3/8" bolts!
spin a 95mm stroke and the same components to 10K and you will be applying over 12,000#'s(reciprocating wt) on the rod bolts thats over 2,500# more than the short stroke....if you turn the rpms down to 9K youll be in the load range of a 89mm stroke motor....so what does this mean? (I) will need a rod with a 7/16" bolt which will be rated at 280Kpsi+...
ARP has 1 material that is available with this strength....AerMet 100....
its application is used in TopFuel according to ARP's description of the material...
When was the last time you heard of a team using that kind of technolgy on a sport compact? you have a problem reading apparently. I never said they stay afloat becuase of Honda-tech . I said their sales have went up drasitcally becuase of it though.
Yes they were a household name before with Domestics, but now that Earl and Art and others started selling them here it is now kinda like "The set up to go with" on Hondas.
Argue all you want, my opinion is set like yours is on Eagles.
