He is right though. yes their quality is good and Yes Geoff's skills are more than above par, but Honda-Tech word of mouth has made alot of these companies what they are today.
From Earl Pushing CP and Benson and Pauter. And everyone loves Earl, CP and Benson and Pauter are now the most sought after products.
ArTurbo and everyone else here who pushes Precision has made quite a name for them. People love Art so they buy what he recommends.
Its all in marketing and who is marketing the product
Like I said, people that are here long enuff see the trends. I could go on, but i get tired of this same debate. If you are a no one on this site and try and sell something or bring up a new product you will be fased out quickly or flamed away. If you are one of the beloved, you will be praised all the time even when you are wrong
I see it, i just keep to myself about it in most cases and just deal with it because i have alot of friends on this site and this is UNDOUBTEDLY the best Honda site for tech info and news. If I was a new user coming in and seeing 1/2 the crap that goes on in here, i prob wouldnt visit back. </TD></TR></TABLE>
I think this is the most accurate post I have seen in this tread yet !

Made (meaning helped their business like crazy from member recommendations):
-Full-Race
-Precision
-DRAG
-CP
-I could go on...
:</TD></TR></TABLE>I will never understand why people post bullshit like this. CP produced pistons for V-8's way before Honda-Tech existed. Do you really think CP went out spent 50+ million in machinery to build the best pistons in hopes that they could be successful on Honda-Tech?
Precision has sold turbos for a long time before Art introduced them on H-T?
As a college student, FF Geoff promoted himself by designing and selling a few pieces off of H-T. He would have been successful doing this on his own, anyway. If he didn't make good products, he would have not been around for long. He was designing products for Z-10 when he was in highschool.

full race's market expands so far beyond hondas its not even funny. from all the precision stuff i see hondas use alot more than other makes , but i doubt honda tech has made a substancial difference . drag makes kits for everything , you cant possibly think we are keeping that buisness going . and cp makes pistons for everything under the sun , not just cars and especially not just honda.
now there are alot of buisnesses that really count on honda tech buisness , and to me its :
golden eagle
lightning motorsports
pro street online
fast-turbo
heel toe
im sure there are others . but too me those are the ones that really stay on honda tech and concentrate on the honda tech market.
no manufacturers come to mind , but those buisnesses i think do .(even though golden eagle makes alot of products , they are mostely for hondas)</TD></TR></TABLE>
Haha. We have been in business since 1978 and we definately DO NOT rely on HT for our bread and butter. We do more than you guys think

Exactly. There is a world outside of Honda-Tech for almost EVERY company. Like I said, we have been doing business for over 27 years and you think Honda-Tech is what we rely on? Please. We were ISO qualified while some of you guys were in diapers ( not said in hostility ) Honda-Tech is a great port to flow info to our customers, but it is definately not our ONLY port. We would be just fine without HT, but I like it here, so I'll stay

Who would've thunk. A thread on two rod brands turns into a honda-tech political debate.

O.K, here goes. I have used almost EVERY rod out there and here is my personal opinion:
Pauter - good solid rods. I have never had a problem with them, but I also have not pushed them that far. Seems to be a great design, a little on the pricey side for some customers. Decent weight.
Eagle - Good overall rod, especially now that there is a big bolt in it. Great price! Even with the smaller 5/16 bolt, we make about 500 WHP on the Ecotec crate engines we build for Saturn Motorsports and have never had an issue with the small bolts. I had 1 instance where a rod came apart on me, small bolt Eagle, but that was in a motor that was pushing about 800 whp and 10300 RPM
Good light rod. Set 2 world land speed records using these rods.
Crower - good overall rod. Decent price. I have used and relied on these rods for a long time. Shelf rods are good for about 900 h.p. but I started to bend them after that. Had the rods built with a larger cross section and sustained over 1000 h.p. and 10,000 RPM without a problem. Decent weight.
Cunningham - Great for all-motor applications. They can be made extremely light and have excellent strength. I have yet to have a problem with them. Decent price, great weight!
BME aluminum - I first started using these about 2 years ago and I love them. I recommend them to everyone that want serious H.P. on a race only engine. Extremely light weight, excellent strength. I make over 1200 h.p. and 10500 RPM on them and have yet to have any issues. They will also be going into my all-motor car. Excellent price, Excellent weight! A must for race only engines ( do NOT use aluminum in street cars!!! )
Carrillo - When it comes to steel rods, they are the best. I have never had any issues with them and they are an excellent design. Cunningham is very similar in design to the Carrillo, but Carrillo has some great new materials perfect for all-moptor and turbo applications.
All of the rods I have mentioned I have used in numerous applications. They are all great products as long as the tuning and assembly is right on. Those two factors will determine the longevity of your rods, no matter what the brand. I also hear Manley is a pretty good rod. I have never personally used them, but I know Gary Gardella and Sav Leone love them
There, my .02$

exactly, goldeneaglemfg, Eagle AND Pauter are both good rods, and can both hold there own. I am gonna be using eagles in my personal setup for 400whp, I am not saying Pauters are bad, there just not in my budget and eagles are fine for my setup.
good post Vince, we need more of that
I dont dislike Pauters or any other brand at that, they all do their job if tuned correctly and installed correctly. Overall i think Eagle is a very good cheap rod.

Glad I can give some tech on the subject to help you guys understand why there are problems with certain products when used in incorrect applications. I just hate to see people say bad things about products that work well when used properly....
