Default Oil return line

I'm having a problem with my return line. I'm having no luch getting my return line to flow properly. I have a 3" downpipe so I have to tap into my oil pan on the far right (driver side) of my oil pan. With my drag 2 manifold I only have maybe a 1.5" down grade from the bottom of my turbo to the top of my oil pan and and its 8" sideways. The SS -10 line is flat for about 5". My car is smoking a little now and it want smoking at all last week when I was running it all motor while I was waiting for my new turbo it didn't smoke at all so I'm almost sure its my return line. Is anyone else having this problem?

You cannot have 5" of flat surface for the drain.

You must re-run that drain some other way.

You must.

I will try and gte soem pics taken. I think my problem is that my 60-1 with my drag II manifold hangs so low that I don't have enought downhill room between the bottom of my turbo and oil pan to get a proper down flow. Is it ok if I put the return bung into the oil pan right below the turbo and just have a 1.5" return line straight down?

Take the section of piping off coming from your compressor to your I/C and see if you have any oil sitting there. If you do, there is no other alternative but the retap your oil pan in some other location. Maybe you should get a SS line that is a bit longer so it would clear the dp better.

I'm thinking of installing my original oil pan where the return line in straight down from the turbo but the return line will only be 2-2.5" long. Will this cause a problem being so short. I will also be ditching the AN- fittings and going back to black hose I guess. Which size hose is the best?

If I understand you correctly, the tap for your oil line will be on the shallow end of the oil pan, correct? If that's the case, that is what I am having trouble with now and it has been nothing but frustration. Remember, your return line should be at a 45deg and not a 90 deg bend to better satisfy the flow. If there is any kink in the line you will have a higher chance of blowby. It is better to have it tapped into the upper part of the deep side of the oil pan on the other side of the dp.

The pan I'm putting back on is tapped in the left side of the deep part of the pan. I just want to make sure that a return line that is only 2" or so, as long as its going almost straight down it a short return line.
