Oil return problem
First off I am going to say I searched for this problem, never really came up with anything but I am on 56k so it takes awhile to find anything. I am installing my turbo kit on my 92 EG with a b18c swap. I have a SLS shorty manifold and a GT3255b turbo. The oil pan I have already had a -10an fitting welded to it. I went to make my oil return line I got from fast-turbo and once I screw in the 45 degree fitting in the turbo, the fitting on the turbo is about 3 inches from the fitting in the oil pan and lines up perfectly and give me no room to run my an fittings and line. I found a piece of thick rubber hose, the inside diameter is 3/4 of a inch, big enough to fit over the an fittings and clamped. What I am wondering is if this would be fine? Will the rubber hose hold up to the heat? Does it matter that I would be running a bigger return line than usual?
Thanks,
Chris

you should be fine man. The return line has no pressure behind it, only gravity moves the oil from the turbo to the oil pan. As long as the hose clamps are as snug as you can get em without stripping em, u should be ok. Now if you wanna be 1000% safe and sure, go with a steel braided line and fittings. U said the ends are very close, all you have to do to get at least an inch of length is clock ur turbo. Loosen the bolts on the cool side and hot side and rotate the inner housing to your liking and tighten it all back up. should be a snap.
you can clock the center a little off horizontal. just a little.
i would use braided clamped over regular hose. it can handle the heat, but heat and oil, it will swell and leak.
