OK I've decided to get off my lazy *** and get my motor completed so I can throw my SC on it. I still need a couple of parts to finish it and need some advise. I'm would like to go with low boost high comp setup.

My setup:
A6 Block - Freshly rebuilt
ZC DOHC Pistons
A6 Head - Rebuilt

What additional would be good for this?
ARP
Head gasket - who/thickness

I also have a spare Z6 head. Any benefits with a Vtec vs. Non-Vtec head?

Would a close geared ZC tranny and SC mix well?

Thanks

arp head studs. any thickness headgasket, i'd go with a stock metal unit. your pistons will bring the compression up. no benefit with vtec. all the higher hp figures have all been non-vtec. yes, close geared trans would work great. its not a turbo, no need for longer gears.

a SCed car feels like a super strong NA car.

Thanks for your help rmcdaniels & STREETWERKZ. I knew that an EMS would be what I needed. I am going for the Hondata S300 (ODB1-ODB2 conversion) that should do, correct? Also ditch the FMU and run just the FPR, that's what you suggest. Cool, Thanks.

Now about raising the boost? What do you all suggest: OE Y8 crank pulley, new nose pulley, or boost upgrade kit?

The boost upgrade kit--I thought I had read in previous post and correct me if I'm wrong, had been discontinued. If I am wrong and it is still available would I even use the BTC it comes with after the S300?

Sorry for my ignorance, but I just want to see what the best way is to reach this engines potential.

One more ?, Will I need larger injectors + fuel pump, I know you are going to say YES, but is that over-kill. Its just a SOHC.

Thanks again for all your help.

haha we have to over kill our little single cam's to make them strong lol. I have a 3.6 snout pulley and I just picked up a y8 crank pulley which should put me at about 10lbs. Another point to touch on is the injectors to make sure there will be a good flow of gas when the boost sets in. I am still waiting on this *** hat that i bought my dsm 450's from, once they get here i will throw the y8 on and baby it up to the tunner. OBD0 FTW turboedit lol. A good way to pull out our engines potential from what i have read is to mill the head to up the compression SC's love that. Check out tad's formula that i have in my sig it is actually a great formula for single cam sc power. Best of luck with your build glad to have another member to the board

Back to the main point of this THREAD!!! I got my 3.6 from moss motors the guy said it was the stock pulley that came off my model aplication so im assuming its the 88-91 but it doesnt make sense that its 4 rib oh well who cares. So anyone used a 3.6 and a y8 crank pulley? What kinda boost did that make? Thanks.

Please explain how you "know" what you "know"?

From reading and from people tell you. I bet you didn't turn a wrench on your whole install. I read your "install thread" ... looks to me like you were standing around while my brother did all of the work.

I'm not a CAR GUY, but I'm willing to bet I know more than you when it comes to how these things work. I'll even line up my spoked Monte Carlo up against your rust bucket and show you the ***-end all the way down the boulevard. All while I'm dumping and sparking out of the back.

Jon. I'm Joe's brother.

Joe did all of the work from my understanding. You didn't listen to a thing he told you to do. and when things went wrong, you were the first to point fingers. If you were to open your ears more than you open your mouth, you probably wouldn't have run into the problems you have.

You say you have a running car right now, but from what i hear, it's BARELY running. Untuned, and you're still taking it to the canyons. Shoot, you didn't even know what fuel pressure to set your car at. I bet you stood there as Joe gapped your spark plugs. You don't have any knowledge as I've stated before. You read and regurgitate. Sure you took the blower off and put it back on, But only after you saw Joe do it 15 times up at his house.

BTW, Joe might have forgave you (even though he'll never help you again) but I haven't. If you couldn't tell.

I'll stay out of your precious thread now. Joe just wanted this screen name so he could post his progress pictures. If you got a problem, call my Brother and let him know.

Um not me LOL!!!! Anyways one thing I have always heard was the raised compression part but NOBODY has ever given me physical proof on this with the SOHC cars. If someone could give me some kind of proof then I would do it and give you guys a write up and dyno results. I am not ruining a head for nothing which is what it would be if it turned out to loose power.
