problems with civic b16 turbo
Hi to everybody, first! i'm ferran, from balearic islands, spain, here tune hondas is something strange... Anyway, i want to tune my car, i'm an honda fan.
I'm in trouble because i don't know exactly which parts have this car... The previous owner didn't know at all... This car is an unfinished project, and i want to finish it.
I've bought an EJ8 (civic coupe) with the following parts installed:
turbo kit stage 1 sfp performance (garret t30)
950cc injectors
rev valve springs & retainers
Pistons srp/eagle rods (i know that it's still an 1600cc)
Arp head studs
Block guard
Cometic head gasket
Skunk2 pro intake maniford
v/s rev (i don't know what's this, it's written on the bill...)
Wallbro 255 fuel pump
Greddy profec B2
AEM 30-1050
Pig tail ?? this means OBD1-OBD2 conversion harness?
egt pyrometer (autogauges)
boost gauge (autogauges)
timing belt, water pump
Fidanza flywheel and exedy clutch ( i think that this flywheel it's not made of cromomoly... but for now it's not a real problem)
The problem on this car seems to be the ECU tune...
Now the car runs well but at something around 4500rpm, it begins to pull hard, the turbo pressure increases to 15 psi and suddently at around 5000 rpm it starts to missfire and the wastegate opens :S
If you step the throttle softly, you can reach 8000 rpm without any missfire, but when you try to step harder, it begins the same history...
And when you try to turn on the car, when it's hot, it's dificult to start it.
At idle, with the vacuum tube conected to the stock fuel pressure regulator, the fuel pressure gauge reads 30 psi. I think that this pressure is not enough, true¿
I don't know why this car doesn't have any aftermarket fuel pressure regulator :S
I don't have the AEM maps yet... but i think that could be a great idea to begin from a base map... I've seen that the AEM pro have some base maps, one of those for an civic turbo with 440cc injectors...
Could you give me your opinion about this car, what do i need more? what do i need to remove?
How much HP could be expected from this engine?¿
Thans so much to everybody!

Could be actual EMS(AEM ECU) grounds on engine harness to ecu or actual circuit board, too rich which has to do with your tune fuel plus timing charts etc take it to a good dyno shop? Your injectors are huge but your EMS tuned correctly should take care of that problem.

Your base fuel pressure should read ~46psi, my car has AEM EMS also and i too have trouble starting the car when hot, i think it may be the main relay, i will change it soon to see if it helps. The OEM fuel pressure regulator is fine, but you need to find out why your fuel pressure is so low. I use OEM fuel pressure regulator no problem and i have 340whp!!
It sounds like you may have launch control activating while your driving.
I think most of your problems may be in the tune, you should get it to a good tuner soon to have it remapped.

base fuel pressure might be close is it 30 something or just 30. also what does it go to when you disconnect the vacuum line?
If there are no tuner around you need to buy a wideband first. Before you start to do anything get one. It might just be going lean when you stomp on it, and you could start to do some damage real quick if thats the case. Also aem has some Hot start fuel tables, id get in there and mess around with that to try and get it to start when it is hot.
