Default b18c5 turbo build

so heres the story, bought my teg turbo charged, was pretty new to this scene at the time, engine burnt a little oil ,now to the point where it needed to be retuned due to bosst problems, turbo needed rebuild, so i bought my type r motor b18c5 and gsr (y80-no lsd ) and i havE now started to build. i will be replacing pistons, rods, valve springs, reatainers, head port and polished, block is already bored to 81.5 so i will just be honing it:
Here are the parts:
block:
Wiseco 9.7-10.2 CR forged pistons
Eagle H beam connecting rods
Hot tanked, honed
Head:
Skunk 2 tuner valve springs
Skunk 2 titanium ratainers
head will be port and polished, and valvetrain professionally installed
Tranny:
Act 4 pad clutch
Exedly lightweight flywheel
Tuning:
Hondata s300
Boost solenoid
Fuel managment:
Walbro 255lph
RC 750CC injectors
Turbo:
the turbo that came on my stock ls (b18b1) was a nissan turbo, having a hard time figuring out what is acually, will post a picture up of it, if its able to meet my power needs i want to keep it, if not im lookin at getting a gt28 disco potato

A/R .48
just lookin for some opinions as well as anything else i should be aware of

, Name the cams? i think they are cat cams
https://honda-tech.com/forums/showth...4#post46930534

Lookin for atleast 300-350whp reliably, live in ablerta so its a 1-2 season car (dont wanna hear people say you could have done it on stock internals or you should have sleeved it, this is my build and im doing it with the parts listed above)

heres the sexy ***** its going in

Why do you want to use such a small turbo?

Well I'm building pretty much the exact same set up as you except I'm using stock itr cams. My car will also be a dd and tuned on 91. And ill be using a turbonetics .60/.63 turbo. Let someone else more knowledgeable like TheShodan to come in and tell you what would be best for your setup

You def cannot compare what one turbo does on a C5 to a KA, SR, or RB.

That's on the turbocharger when its tuned. Not the size. Depending upon power and use, stay with a midframed turbo (49lbs/min-58lbs/min), and you'll have MUCH more fun than anything larger like a GT35R or bigger. Stay with the better companies for turbos (no Godspeed, or ebay) and have it tuned, and you'll be reliable as much as your heart is content with.

Thank you, Shodan, your opinion on the turbo for running around 350whp, on the proper sized turbo, im lookin for fast spool, virtually no lag but don't wanna lose power in the higher rpm, id like to run a garret forsure id like to try to spend under a grand on the turbo.. any suggestions

I'm thinking about doing basically the same setup but I'm shooting for mid 400 and I'll be using a pte 5857. U should look into one of those.. Alot of people are running 5857's and making good numbers and really enjoy them on the street.

I originally thought about doing something like u with a small turbo also but said screw it because I'm doing all the work everyone else has to go slower than them when everything is said and done. And lag till 4500ish shouldn't bother me cause I'm used to waiting till 5500 for vtec anyways lol I definitely would look into a bigger turbo if I were you haha.

Also.. If you stay out of boost I don't see why ur gas mileage wouldn't suffer very much and with a gsr trans cruising 70 you should t be too far away from creeping into boost anyways with just a twitch of ur right foot

It would do that even with the smaller turbocharger, because the car is not in load. Why people think these super large turbochargers will help with real gas mileage I'll never figure out.

@crosser11: Just look at ALL your options available, and NOT just the ultimate HP number. You'd be surprised what 350whp will do for a lightweight sub-3000lbs car. getting full pressure by 3300-3400 under 20psi is nothing to laugh at with something 52-58lbs/min. Not to mention, with a full Garrett, if something were to happen in the future, you can pretty much repair it anywhere as opposed to sending it only one place.

Typically T3/T4 50 trims do well on LS's.

I think you have a T28? That will make 300whp being pushed.
