Mainly just working for me. But I need to pick up more hours so I dont start trying to put it on credit lol.

I already have 5k of debt on CC's b/c with my last car I was impatient and put it all on there. Car ended up being stolen and I still own on it. Sucks, but thats life.

Everything now is done with cash though

man u guys make me feel kinda spoiled, Im 17 and im doing my turbo kit on my teg right now, I sold alot of my stuff to get the money (all my paintball gear, motocross bike, snowmobile) But I dident really buy any of that stuff in the first place, I dont know why my parents let me keep the money , but out of the 3,500 or so that ive spent ive prolly really earned about 1,500, selling car parts and working for my dad ($10-$12 an hour tax free!! woot!)

Homemadeturbo.com

But I feel you. I'm basically in the same situation as you except I'm currently looking for a job because it's summer and I'm only gonna take two summer school classes. Unfortunately, the money I make from the job will probably go towards rent and tuition and not a turbo setup until I'm out of college and working for real.

....if your still in school then your young. best advice you can get is stick it out, do well, and get a good job so you can pay for the toys you like.

btw-im an aircraft tech. makin some good money, but paying all the bills, and still managing to buy big turbo's, built motors, and crazy chassis makes a hole in my pocket too. Maybe i should be workin three jobs like Mikey(aka-boostedcivicsir)

First and foremost, finish college, get your degree, then you can work on the other trivial things in life. I am 28 and these are what a good education gets you.

Cars will always be for sale and I am sure Full-Race and whoever else will always be in business, so finish your college first.

im a high school science teacher.

i had up around 8k on my cc's but its been going down since i got a real job.

i was working pizza delivery before then, which is why i owe'd on the cc's.

if money is a concern, just be a critical shopper and do it right the first time, might take a lil longer but you will save cash in the long run.

Do it this way.....

I just graduated from college and dropped a boat load on school as well as a built motor and turbo kit. I was fortunate to have most of the money, and borrowed a few dollars from my parents.

Do it the cheapest (yet efficient) way possible. You'll get tired of it eventually and want something else. I did. I hit high 300s and once you drive it for about a year or so, you'll regret spending thousands upon thousands of dollars unless you plan to turn your car into a drag car that only wears slicks at the track.

DON'T get me wrong, it is fun and all, but trust me it's not the greatest thing in the world, but you will enjoy it for a while.

schooling and motivation will get you $$$$$$ which = Boost or whatever else you want in life. Good Luck and don't get bumbed out cause you have enough time in this life to "boost your". That **** my friend is easy, the hard **** is paying a mortgage, paying for kids, living day to day, so behappy you have time and when you see some kid passing you cause your car is slow, or you are on the bus just think to yourself that you will beat their ***(in a race of course) once you get your **** together. NOthing is hopeless.

With that out of the way, where is the tech in this thread??

Good luck kid, and stay in school.

I started off with low budget in mind, slowly saving funds from summer jobs and left over money from financial aid checks. The last year or so i really started to realize how expensive it really gets- you get the power then you need traction, then reliability and so on...

I'm a finance major with one year left, the last year or so ive busted my *** off to get good grade, which in return ive been getting more grants, scholarships, and partial loans. Usually after books are paid, i get to play with the left over money.

like all the smart guys above are saying though, get your education first then go fast later.

"Yeah, that's it. I got a student alt rock band coming on next. Mitch, I own six speaker cities. I am worth three a half million dollars that the government knows about. I got more electronics up there than a damn KISS concert. you think I'm gonna roll out this type of red carpet for a ******* marching band? Just make sure you can see the stage. "

Snoopaloop, we're goin streaking!!!

Naw, but taxs suck. Enjoy being in college and work/bill free. (remember it's all relative.) College is so much less stressful.

I finished my setup when I was 17.I am now 18 and it has a lot of little changes that have been made to it over the last 8 months like better welding, hose placement and so forth. It took me about 1.5 years to save up for it all. I work at an autozone which pays 8 an hour which is pretty good for a high school student. I also work at a firework store during the summer. I worked about 80 hours a week during the summer and did everything myself to save money. It was by no means easy especially with school, keeping good grades, and having time for friends. I went through a lot of hell with this car but in the end I enjoy it. Plus not many can say they built a car in high school that runs 12's, has full interior, stock suspension, and get 26mpg all at the same time. And the way I see it is, most kids see about the same amount of money through hih school bt most just waste it on stupid stuff that they cant keep. Just be patient and all will come in time. And BTW for those of you who may wonder, my parents did buy me the car for 4800 3 years ago, but all gas, insurance, and parts since have been paid for by me.

**** being in school helped finance my project to a certain extent
I am 24 in my last semester of college and i finally turboed my civic https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1666186. My project actually started back in '03. But since I have a 4-year old (no child support here, baby mama's a nurse), financial aid comes in very big. Most of my turbo parts, about 75% was bought through the refunds I got from financial aid and income tax from the past couple of years.

It just takes alot of patience and just keeping your plan ahead of you. Also if you really have a passion for this that helps most because it keeps you motivated.

man dont fret

im 6k in debt in school cause i flunked my first semester. I have only 16 credit under my belt. I decided to move back in with the rents to save a little cash and live under their rules, which really really suck. I have summer classes im taking so mon-thurs morning are spent. Then i work a 1-9 job only about 3-4 days a week. 250.00 pay checks a week is ok for my situation but ive just started my build and it will take me over 2 years at this rate.

get the education first cause thats what im doing, then a house and toys come later. oh and if you want to save some money, ditch the girlfriend, cause all they do is want to go out and spend ur hard earn money.

im 19 with a half *** civic hatch and other then my dog, thats all i can say that i truely own.
