internal to external wastegate
i got a airsearch t3 turbo with a internal wastegate thats all F-ed up..i took it all apart and was wondering if i can weld a parts on the turbo where the external wastegate use to be and use it as a normal turbo and go with a external wastegate..is this possible

we tried welding the flap shut ofa t25 but it kept cracking on the welds. we ended up just putting a stop screw on the down pipe flange to push the flap shut. it works well

Or do it a better way for cheap - buy a 5-bolt flange & gasket that doesn't have the cutout for the wastegate hole, put it between the wastegate and turbine housing (maybe get longer bolts too) - finsished. You can now reuse your DP w/o welding too, although its a moot point if you're getting a different manifold.

One problem with that is if the flange comes loose or leaks any, you have no boost.
Its annoying...
