I just want to know WTF my SMC is right now...

It was supposed to be shipped out Friday, 2day air, and hasn't gotten here yet...
Diablo is kind of annoying me (First, they say it will be ready to ship out week before last, then last week, then Friday of last week... If I had been notified that it wouldn't be shipped out until a few days ago, I wouldn't have spent $21 on damn 2day air.)

</end rant>

Are you running the SMC? It is a different circuit then the AFC, it may feel different.

I'm running the circuit. The SMC works on the exact same principal as the circuit and apexi afc. It cuts the map sensor voltage and that is what causes the jerkyness.
its gonna be jerky and stuff? i hope not. damnit. someone fill us in.

Another satisfied SMC customer:

First off I want to thank Zip for his support with my questions before and after the install. He's a quick responder and definately knows his stuff.

As for the install, it was a breeze. It took all of maybe an hour to wire it up. Another hour to pull the FMU, install the new injectors, install an OBD1 IAT sensor and relocate the Map sensor. Instructions were clear and detailed.

When I started my car it fired right up. The Idle was a little high so I trimmed the 0/1.5k setting to about 40% and got a smooth Idle around 900 rpm. I gave it some gas and let off and there was no rpm bounce. After that I took it out for a test run. Before I adjusted any of the other settings, I was able to drive around with no hessitation and as I got into boost the transition was smooth. Now I needed to lean out the other settings because my A/F gauge was pegged in the rich zone during hard acceleration and at wot. So I pull over, increase the the setting to 40% across the board puched the program button. I got back on the road and gunned it again and noticed a remakable improvment. The throttle response from a dead start is much, much better. While cruising, if I punch it, I noticed a nice kick (much stronger than before). When I get into vtec it feels alot stronger, as well. If I had to guess I'd say I picked up another 20whp up top.

As for my set up. I'm boosting 10psi on a 99 Civic Si, I have the B&M adjustable chop top set to 43 psi, timing is 16btdc with the JRBTC set to 4 clicks with no detonation and I'm using rc 440 injectors.

Now this is just a preliminary review, I plan to take it to the dyno to tweak it out to it's full potential and will post my numbers then. As for now I can say that I'm impressed with it's performance. For all you Vafc hackers or any one using the vafc/afc with boost, this is much easier to self tune and I feel you have much better controll over the pulse of your injectors. I feel much safer running this than I did with the vafc. You simply can't beat this product for the money. If your like me and can't spend the money for a Hondata right away then this is definatly the way to go. No guess work, no searching other post for setups, very satisfying results.

Thanks for a great product Zip.

Another satisfied SMC user:

Well guys I finally installed the SMC this weekend. It took me a bit longer to install then it should, but I’ve decided that’s just because I’m a perfectionist. First off the instructions were very straight forward and clear. Thanks to Sonny for the resistor box and obd1 injector clips.
Got everything wired together, and she cranked right up only problem I forgot to disconnect the EBL (zips fuel controller) so it was running really really rich at idle. Side note, don’t forget to disconnect all extra fuel enrichment devices. So after replacing the toasted plugs and a few adjustment of the idle setting she was idling like a champ. The SMC is very easy to use, basically you tweak the **** with a small flat head, push the little button and you’re good to go. Repeat until desired settings are reached. Now comes the best part, the rough vac to boost transition is totally eliminated and I’m not exaggerating one bit. I was a bit skeptical when I heard the word “seamless” used on another review but it is completely non existent. But it doesn’t stop there it’s so smooth all the way to redline with a very nice pull to boot. Over all it was a great bargain and exceeded my expectations. Thank to Zip22 for his great tech support and product!

Well I finally got my smc today, didn't take long to install, very simple to do. slapped in my 450cc injectors, turned the idle setting down a little extra and fired it up. idles around 500 but I had that issue before. took it up the road, no engine lights, seems to work real well for the money. I am a little confused as to why you need to hit the program button. is that just in case you bump your settings? wouldn't the actual setting override the memory? anyhow, looks like it will do the trick for now. gotta get an a/f meter before I get real serious. was only boosting 4 1/2 lbs but it wanted to spin the tires taking off in first which has never happened before. so far I'm happy with it. on a side note, I did have to wait awhile because diablo was at sema when I put in my order, so it took almost a week before they even ran my credit card, then a few more days before it actually shipped. i wish they used someone other than fedex, as it took over a week to get to me. but I have it now and thats what matters.

The program button saves any particular setting so that the adjustment screws can be inadvertently turned without affecting the previous settings. The basic factory settings are 35% across the rpm range. I'm glad your satisfied with your SMC!

so once you hit the program button, it runs on what you programed, and new adjustments don't take affect until you hit program again? am I thinking correctly on that? just wanna understand exactly how to operate it
