How much boost can i run safely with stock internals???
what's up guys??
I got a b18b powered 98 civic and i'm in the process of slapping a drag gen 3 kit on it ....I know my compression ratio is 9.2:1. This is what i got.
Drag gen 3 turbo kit
Tial Wastegate
RC 440 cc Injectors
Jackson racing fuel pump
Msd 6btm ignition, cap and coil
greddy profec b boost controller
The question is how much boost can i run safely with this setup
thanks

Man you are going to need a SAFC and a FMU at least to run that setup.
I would put my money down on a Hondata or some sort of fuel managment if I were you.

Guess what??
Over the weekend i went to the track ( i wanted to see what my car would run before i put the turbo kit on), on my way there i was driving like 70mph and all of the sudden the car started spottering and the check engine light came on. Later on that day i checked the codes and it turned out to be missfiring in cylinders 1,2,3.So i checked my plugs and wires and they were bad..so i replaced them , reset the ecu and the check engine light went away. Then i'm driving again and the same thing happens and when i get home the oil light came on, i check the oil and the dipstick was dry( i did an oil change like 600 miles before this) so i put some oil in it. The next day i went to the shop that does all my work and had them do a leakdown test and the results were:
cyl#1: 48%
cyl#2: 45%
cyl#3: 52%
cyl#4: 7%
after thinking about it we came to the conclussion that my piston rings are bad so I'm gonna go ahead and rebuild the block. The funny thing is that there were no signs of anything being wrong before this friday whis is when everything started (no missfiring,no blue, white, or black smoke..the car was running perfect). Is this normal?do rings go that easy and without any notice?I'm very confused why this happened.( the motor only had 48K miles and i always kept up with the maintenance religiouslyand like i said everything was perfect)
I'm kinda glad this happened before and not after i installed the turbo.....anyway i'll post again in a couple of weeks when everything should be ready.
