how do u read plugs???

Default how do u read plugs???

i was wondering how do u know by just looking at the plug if ur running lean or rich??? and how do u know if its perfect or getting perfect???

rich = black
lean = white spots
just right = goldy brown

oil on plugs = oh no blown engine

just right is actually white and the insulator will slowly turn golden brown as it ages.

lean means you are getting detonation and there will be visible black or silver specs on the insulator. I sometimes notice the signs of minor detonation on my plugs after driving hard... very small silver specs on the insulator.

My is actually white...how will u see if theres any spots on them...the porcelain part is white and the metal around it is black...but i dont see any of those spots...how will u see a spots on them???thanks million

Look really close hehe. They will be very small specs, get a magnifying glass. Serious detonation will be very apparent as the insulator will be covered in little black specs like pepper and little silver pieces (parts of your pistons).

Use this for a rough guide, but be warned that these are extreme examples:
