Weird question i think?
How can you tell if a turbo is able to be turned to point a certain way. For example to turbo it from this position.

To make the outlet point straight down.
Do you understand? Or am i rambling?

Are there bolts on the inside of the compressor? If so, there might be six, that you need to loosen. Then just clock the turbo and tighten em' up!

you also need to possition the center section so your oil connection will be pointed straight up when you mount it.. the exhaust housing should have a huge retaining clip that you need special pliers for you just squeez it and get someone else to twist....there may be different ways its held on with but thats the only one i am familiar with..hope that helps

all the turbos i have had or seen they have like 6 bolts on each housing to clock eash housing. to do the center section , just loose bot housings and clock the center

some turbos have an internal snap ring that holds the compressor housing on and some have a v band for the turbine. humm, I just decribed a DSM turbo. anyway ya, all turbos come appart and can be clocked, the only issue I have ever seen it that you many not have a place to mount the internal wastegate actuator (doesn't look like an issue here though). The compressor housing pictured definatly has the bolts as we can see the big bumps where they thread in..
