Default Turbo will not clock

Hello-

I am in need to clock my t3/t4 from a drag kit, and the turbine wont budge. I loosened all 6 bolts and the center cartridge still wont turn. The compressor turns just fine however. There is no shaft play (if that matters) and the wheel spins freely. The turbo has ~ 1000 miles on it.

Any advice?

It's not going to move without removing the entire assembly, loosening the bolts very carefully, and using a rubber mallett knocking in a circular pattern at 12 o'clock, 3 o'clock, 6 o'clock, 9 o'clock points several times.

Most of the time the compressor housing just needs to be clocked unless going w/ a top mount manifold.

thanks for the advice. The turbo was originally clocked, and i need to re-clock it

Also the person who did my oil return for me kinda messed it up and I cant fix it without clocking it

thanks, ill see if that works.

Try putting the turbo in a vise. Soak the bolts some kind of oil to maybe loosen them up.

The rubber mallet is a good idea, but just becareful you dont knock the housing loose causing damage to the wheels.

i used the rubber mallet method. took the bolts out and "massaged it" with the mallot. it started cooperating after a few smacks
