Default hondas arn't ment to be turbocharged

i want to build a ls turbo as a daily driver between 5-8 psiand everyone tell me that i won't make 100 000 miles i have 60 000 on it now i was jut wondering if anyone has a defient answer to this problem. Oh yeah with the use of stock internals what would be need to make a very dependable turbo setup

5-8 psi is very moderate boost. i know many people with turbocharged hondas and one has 22k on the turbo. hes at 85k now. you dont need any msd ignition products. run a colder plug, use a tunning tool, make sure you have a FMU, inline fuel pump, and you might want to look into 310cc injectors. go with an apexi safc, or if you can afford one, a hondata/AEM. just have it tuned properly and all will be well. my ls will be turboed here real soon and i have no worries. if you want maybe purchase a block guard. but THE BIG THINGS ARE ENSURING YOUR MOTOR IS GOING TO RECIEVE THE PROPER AMOUNT OF FUEL, AND PROPER TUNNING TUNNING TUNNING. hope this helps.

For 5-8psi, a rev-hard or drag turbo kit will be fine. As long as you stay within the 5-8psi range like you said, it should last very long. If you want to squeeze out every bit of power out of it, then go with hondata and get it tuned. Paul

i had people tell me the same ****. there was one guy who was an acura mechanic and worked at a few performance shops around town and prior to going turbo i had always trusted his opinion. he had NEVER successfully turbocharged a honda. he was saying the same ol' ****, "hondas arent meant to be turbocharged! your gonna blow it up! blah blah blah" everyday at school i would hear it from this guy.

it REALLY pissed me off, so when I went turbo I went the extra step to do things right. With the help of honda-tech i learned alot and did things right, well that was about a year and a half ago. ive been boosting a stock LS motor w/ revhard kit for 24k miles. turbo'd it at 72k and ran 8psi for about 18k and then got hondata and ive been running 12psi since then. im at 96k miles now and i have no doubts in my mind the car will go 100k miles. this guy didnt even think i could hit a 13 w/ an LS turbo, well i went out and did a 13.3 on 8psi and ran the car for over 20k miles and rubbed it in his face like crazy. cause of me his opinion on turbo has changed.

Do it right the first time and take good care of it and it will last a long long time. btw welcome to honda-tech, we like our newbies to use the search function.

Tell them to shut up and there is a guy in Texas named Arturbo that has 145k miles on his turbo'd gsr. Well, up untill recently I lost compression in one cylinder but the 2 yrs was fun.

I boosted my GSR about a year ago when it had 128k miles and have put 20k miles on it since. No issues whatsoever, in fact my wife drives the car every day and loves it.
