Default HEEEEEEEEELP!!!!!! Throttle is sticking, what can I do?

Ok, I just got my car back last night after waiting for a few weeks for my built block to go in. It has an Edelbrock Victor X manifold and a Holley 68mm TB. I drove it two days ago and the throttle stuck REALLY BAD, I mean to the point that the gas pedal was hard to depress, and when it would give it would rev the car to 5 grand. The bad thing is my throttle cable is on the last two threads on the TB side because the position of the manifold is much lower than the stock one. I can't tighten it anymore because of this either. In fact the throttle cable goes down at a slight angle to the TB. Yes I know that the TB is brand new and the spring is very taught, but this **** isn't right. Not only is the throttle hard to depress, but when I let off the gas it sometimes sticks between 1500-2000k RPM, so I have to hit the gas quick and rev the car up to get it to go down to a reasonable rpm. Any ideas? Anything I can do to fix? I need help ASAP because I am tired of killing my car or revving it to 5k. Damn thing only has 120 miles on the new motor. HELP!!!!

It sounds like the butterfly valve in the throttlebody may be slightly mis-aligned. Try turning the throttle rotor by hand, if it still sticks/binds it's almost certainly the throttle plate dragging on the outer edges of the throttlebody.

Good luck,

I have the same issue with mine that I just installed too. Holley says they are aware of the issue and its something to with a nitride coating on the butterfly or some ****. just wd40 inside the throttle body and it will free up for a while and then it will get sticky again. you have to do this several times so the oil will allow the metal to rub easier and wear itself down. sounds weird but its works. you could lightly sand the butterfly but i chose the other route.

I'll try the wd40 route every 100 miles until the break in period is over. What I did to temporarily solve this is I bent the bracket that holds the throttle cable backwards to put a little more tension on it. Seems to help so far......
