throttle sticking issues.. please help
i am having throttle sticking problems. the first couple minutes of driving its fine. then if i leave the throttle at a certain position for like more than 2 minutes like when i'm cruising on the freeway then let off rpm goes does really slowly and stays at 2000ish rpm.. and if i stab the throttle and let go really fast, it goes away the rolling goes back to the regular 1200ish. if i don't stab the throttle and just let it stick at 2000 and come to a stop, it would also drop to normal. sometimes the idle surges too but thats pretty rare. i have tried everything from cleaning the throttle plate, lubricating and cleaning the **** out of the butterfly/spring thing, loosening and tightening the throttle cable to give or take away slack, and lubricating the cable. it is a brand new type r throttle cable. the throttlebody is a bbk 70mm. this problem popped out of no where, it never use to do it.

lol... i thought the same thing. There old 68mm was crap (dont know about the new ones).
What some people have done is take some sand paper to the throttle body where the butterfly meets the TB hole. Usually theres a defect in the casting that causes sticking when dirt is built up.

Well we have a bone stock '99 EX sedan 5-speed and the stock Throdle body stciks all the time! Has for about 30,000 miles. I clean it and lube it with deep creep. You guys think a new throdle cable at 120,000 miles might help?? It scares my wife when it sticks

I had a problem and still to this day...just need to get a new throttle body. The throttle plate is sticking on the sides of the body. We tried sanding down the inside a lil, adjusting everything and once in a while when you smash the gas and let go, it will stay in the close position tight. Have to hit the throttle hard to make it come loose.

Re: (shortlid)
trust me u don't want to do that cuz all the sensors control idle and any improper reading is going to just ruin ur idle, get one from the junk yard and clean it with throttle body cleaner real good, I got mine with all the sensors for 50$

Re: (v8killaz)
just try taking a rag to it and cleaning it with some shop solvent...the older accords had that issue also (im a tech for honda) just work the butterfly open and closed as you clean it and then try it out...let me know what happens...
