Default thinking of ditching my thermal...

It's really loud, I tried a resonator, still loud and it's ugly...

What do you guys think on this exhaust, it's 2.5" piping, which seems fine for my turbo... ( input on that please ). Only costs $250

it's a removable silencer

do you guys think I'll lose a lot of power going from 3" to 2.5"?

You'll lose a bit of power, especially using that silencer. Without the silencer that thing is bound to be as loud if not louder than your Thermal.

IMO Thermal looks good. That thing is ugly as hell

BTW: Reason for me saying it's gonna be loud is that muffler probably doesn't have half the amount of packing that a Thermal oval does.

thermals are the worst. They are ugly and sound like crap. Anything is better

I think the thermals are great. Ive had 2 systems on my car one when i was N/A and now there 3" turbo and they sound and look great. Performance wise if you check out the latest TURBO magazine you'll see they did a test and tune on like 15 exhaust systems i believe. Thermal was right up at the top!

The exhaust your showing LOOKS nice. What make is it and for that price there definately has be some questions.

Do not get it! I'm not sure how loud the thermal is, but that exhause is pretty damn loud. So loud, that after a week, I went and got a dynomax turbo muffler welded on, and its still really really loud. It's still louder than my buddy's 5zigen catback which also uses 2.5" piping.

.....3" to 2.5" isn't big unless your pushing 300hp...for 250ish 2.5" is fine...anything higher you'd want 3"....I have the 2.5" mandrel piping PM if your interested!

is that a "bombz racing" exhaust? they mostly specialize in aluminum spoilers.. I'd steer clear of it.

Ive been running a 3 inch thermal exhaust for sometime now. I bought a resonator off of Viren (b18bturbo) and sine i installed that its had a really deep clean tone. for the Thermal.

what specificaly do you not like about the thermal, i love mine, not loud at all? never herd it on a turbo though, anyone know of a good exhaust thats 3in. but stealthy, looks stock, etc. going on 3 tickets not for sound, just b/c its on there, i hate Virginia!

Exactly, that's what I'm looking for... With a n1, you can put a silencer in it for daily driving... Thermal you can not... I would do that, but no one around here does good exhaust work...

Well with a 3' n1 i wouldnt really think it would be too loud considering its going on a f1 car. I rode in a gsr other day allmotor with an n1 wasnt as loud as evryone made it out to seem, he didnt have the silencer on either. Didnt seem much louder than my greddy. Anyways thermal works great, sounds fine, just looks like a pep boys muffler, but hey we are go then show right.

just my taste

Thermal doesn't use composites in their muffler, its just steel wool in the canister. It sounds like **** NA, but turbo it sounds a little bit better.
I agree with "KTeller".. Thermal might've had someone else making their mufflers.

I've bought the thermal twice ...had no choice because it was the best fitting and best performing exhaust for my car. But it sounds like *** rice ..ding ding ..ding blaaaahh bahhh

Custom is the best way to go.
Mufflers supplied with baffles can't suppress noise well because there is not enough material in the canister.
That is why they provide a baffle, and its sufficating.
N1-type mufflers

It may look ricey but.. I believe Greddy Evo is one of the best, lots of composites in canister. Deep sound NA. I dont think they offer an Evo anything larger than 2.25". So, its not really good for turbo.

its sweet.
us made evo = 2.3.
japanese= 2.4(or so ive heard).
evo is mint exhaust
3" piping with evo muffler (the axle back on mine is 3" OD, so like 2.8 " id. not bad.

Yup, the piping on the Evo axle back gets larger before the muffler (it looks like 3" O.D. or 2.8" like you said).
The piping is larger at that point because of the perforated pipe inside ..its the same size (2.25") as the rest of the exhaust.

I am wondering if my friend got the same thermal exhaust that you all keep talking about . It is on a b16 and is really deep and quiet. It is probably one of the best sounding exhausts I have ever heard. Not raspy at all, just a nice even bass. I also like the fact that it almost looks stock, and would if he cut the tip off.

Whatever happened top the 3' greddy power extreme II, it came out a while back, but havent heard much about it, it looked descent(kinda n1 style) but not as good looking. Its greddy so if its quality is like its other exhuast products ti should have done better. ive only noticed a couple people on the board with it.

anyone have any details on that exhuast?
