I have done a set of arp's on a couple of cars and when setting into the block arp recommends to only hand tighten them to the block then tighten to 72ft/lbs... there is no reason that they should have been loose unless something was overlooked.

i belive its 10ft/lbs torque to the block...

ive heard in the past that you need to tighten them... put the engine through a few heat cycles, then re-tighten.

snug them in the block you do not need a torque wrench then torq the head on let it sit for a few hours come back re torque the head the centers will be loose wait a little while do over every thing should be good if not repeat until all the studs click in on the first pull 75lbs with molly is pleanty sometimes when you loosen them the stud lossens that is normall

i put my studs by HAND per the ARP instructions
i torques my head in 2 steps as in any Honda manual
and i have never had an issue with loose bolts, and or bad headgaskets

do it right the first time and there shall be no problems

The GE studs have a bullet nose that bottoms in the block. The ARP bottom at the ends of the threads.I also hand tighten the ARP studs but the GE studs torque in.Either way the studs shouldn't loosen up.Break-away torque is a lot less than tightening torque.A stud torqued to 75#'s w/moly lube may only take 50#'s to loosen.

agreed. also, when you loosed the nuts, occasionally the studs will loosen with them. is that what you experienced?

Yes,but I don't think its a problem.I have seen the studs locktited in before. It is ok to do this as long as the nuts are torqued before the locktite sets up.This is not the way i prefer to do studs tho.
