Default Is gearing overlooked with most boost builds?

I'm just curious because I have an ats 4.9 final in my itr tranny, with an 18g turbo kit... my drivability is quite nice. I never wait for the turbo to spool. I kept the final because I wanted good drivability in vacuum around town and it has worked well for me.

Why do I see so many people recommending gsr trannies or ls trannies? Is it to prevent an extra shift in the 1320?

Or is the general consensus that the $ is better spent elsewhere?

Thoughts?

I think its because of traction problems... FWD + lots of power + street tires = lots of spinning.

I would look into other things for traction like an LSD, better tires, suspension, motor mounts, traction bars, staged boost controller, etc... before I bought a longer geared tranny that would make my car slower.

Most people just dont think about it
Gearing means just as much as anything else in the equation IMO.
I like quick acceleration and staying in boost between shifts. Therefor i prefer a little shorter gearing.

I have a JDM ITR tranny with 4.785 final and think my car drives sick with the power it currently has. I just hope with a little more power it doesn't start losing major traction. Man do I love to stay in peak power and b00st inbetween shifts!!!!! I think reving higher/longer with short gearing is key.
