I have had that manifold for 9 years plus, no cracks no support bracing and no fixing what I bought, Luck of the draw maybe.

The worst part is, you went and dropped $800 on a new LS long block, you probably just broke a ring or cracked a ring land.

Why didnt you tear down and put in new pistons/rings/bearings for $300 then spend the rest of that money on good parts?

i brought a b20 it was only 600 bucks which honestly was not an issue and its never a bad thing to have a healthy motor to start over with. I am gonna eventually build the ls but with it being summertime and me spending so much time already working on the car to get it running i know for sure that i just was not gonna be able to deal with the downtime required to rebuild a motor the right way and with the parts that i would like to use so i decided that my best option was to purchase the b20 and get the car back running with at minimal a new wastegate and manifold.

I have 3 other vehicles in which i daily so the downtime is more of a mental thing. I just honestly want to be able to drive my car.

Meanwhile the b18 will be disassembled sent to the machine shop, new pistons and rods and i will be in search of a b16 head with intentions to have that complete and ready to be put in the car around the end of the year when the weather gets cold and i will not be wanting to drive the car as much. the b20 will probably end up setting in my garage or will be for sale then

If you end up building a LS-VTEC in the future "DO NOT!" pair Type-R cams with a log manifold. T1 said my spoolin performance log manifold choked the hell out of my motor.
