Do it to it man, be sure to get one that comes with a cast manifold and you'll be alright, I think that it's a great way to start out.
You're going to want to get a chipped ecu and some injectors and get it tuned, don't run an fmu or anything like that. You should be able to make a reliable 200whp.

In my opinion, you can just get that ebay kit as long as the manifold is cast iron... not sure if it'll last you long though. Once you get it, you can ditch that turbo and get a garret t3/t4.

Some people have made excellent power with ebay kits whether its a cast manifold or log style... One thing to note on these kits is that the parts that come with these kits are so INCONSTANT and nobodys kits are the same...
From what i understand, i beleive the turbos that ebay are using are actually name branded turbos but these are the ones that are manufactured and are a bit out of spec for a reputable company to sell... Tolerances concerning clearances and balancing are the major reasons why these turbos fail...
Not to scare you but agian some make power and some dont...
I have built a GS300 with a complete JDM Aristo swap and put on a t470mm turbo from ebay and it works like a charm... 510 to the wheels in an auto...
So there you go... Good Luck and boost smart...Know your limits and dont be cheap when it comes to engine management if you want it to last...

Well i'm doing the same thing in a way. I am planning on boosting a JDM D15b and since I am a high school senior and going to college in the fall (VT or Radford!), I have to budget well and find deals for my project. I don't see many things wrong with some "ebay" parts, but I wouldn't cheap out on somethings. Make sure you get a reliable Manifold, Turbo, and Wastegate. These are things that tend to affect people's setups the most. I wouldn't cheap out on these items but for things like IC piping, boost controllers, turbo timers, etc. you could definently resort to Ebay

Re: (.PLUMMM)
You never want to set a small budget when you turbo or super charge a car. IMO don't go cheap! I had an SSAutochrome kit on my car and the turbo lasted for about three months before it started smoking. Plus the fact that some of the bracing had fallen off and not to mention that the piping was cracking all the time. But if your going to buy an EBAY kit go with something that has a cast iron manifold. And some of those cheap kits on EBAY don't include every little piece you will need. You also should spend a good bit of your budget on engine management and fuel supply. I have had about three different kits on my car because I decided to go the cheap route. I wish I had spent the money the first time on a good kit. But getting the cheap kit has taught me a lot in the ways of how everything works and fits. Turboing your car for the first time is a great learning experience. GL with everything

I'm boosting a civic for the first time as well. I'm not going to buy an eBay kit though. I plan on piecing a kit together over time with parts that I want. I'm in the process of a trade for a 94 cx hatch with an LS swap w/ gsr tranny. I was told that Muetek makes decent cast manifolds.
